anyone know what the max weight this will take? the one i have will only do 50kg. it is split in the middle like this one so im going to assume this is the same max weight unless anyone knows different?
Great starter kit for anyone wanting to see if it's for them

There's nothing listed for max weight but the split 1" bar I used to have started feeling a bit dodgy at around 70KG, i'd imagine varying quality would have varying max weight though.

What would you be wanting to use it for? If you are doing lifts like squats, deadlifts etc where the weight you are lifting progresses quickly (doesn't take long until you're looking at over 100KG with those, especially deadlift) then you are going to want an olympic 2" bar instead. Not only for the max weight capacity but also for how many plates you physically can fit on and also how comfortable the bar feels, narrow 1" bars tend to dig into your shoulders once you start doing heavier squats.

If you're only needing a 1" bar for things like overhead press etc where the weight is lower, and it sounds like you need it for more than 50KG already, i'd invest in a good solid one rather than buying another that's split into pieces. Looking back to when I used a split one it never really felt safe with heavier weights.

bench press mainly. i dont need over 50kg yet but i will do very soon. When I put 50 on it i dont feel comfortable with it being split. i'll just look for a solid one. it will inspire confidence then
Aldis reductions or often store specific at the Managers discretion. Can anyone confirm if this is national? Still says £39.99 online.

True but this is definitely been reduced in my region which is neston. This includes all Liverpool stores, some of northwales, Cheshire and Warrington. Finding the stock is another matter haha
Ideal for a female, will tone well as "most" won't won't to pack on the muscle.

If bench press is your focus then do yourself a favour and download the stronglifts app then follow it for a while instead, unless you want to end up looking like a pigeon. Do it for 4-6 months to build strength and some overall mass then switch to something else more aesthetically focused if that's your aim.

Olympic barbells can be picked up from Gumtree for £10-20 regularly and buy a pair of squat stands if you don't have room for a rack.

I do a lot in the gym but have a weight bench at home. Very rarely use it though
OOS in both shops I tried, the staff said it hadn't been in stock for about 2 months. Heat for finding it though.

Stay away from split bars. Constantly unscrew after a few reps from the middle, you will find yourself tightening them every few minutes.

You must be a PT
Anyone can confirm finding it in other stores?
Nothing in Leicester Woodgate.
I went and tried finding it in Old Kent Road but found the 20KG weighted bag instead haha.
There seems to be some good knowledge in this thread. What are people’s opinions of the Decathlon Domyos weights? They do a kit for £129, but not sure if it’s one that will last or can be built upon. It looks like it ticks lots of boxes, but any opinions would be welcome...

decathlon.co.uk/dum…tml
worth it for the weights alone but wouldn't fancy lifting a barbell with a join in it
