If you are the kind of ride who puts their saddle down for descents, then the Crank Brother Joplin L Seatpost is the answer to your prayers. With just a quick flick of the under saddle lever, you can drop your saddle by 75mm (3in), enough for even the gnarliest descent. And when you get to the bottom, just unweight the saddle, press the lever and you’ll have the saddle back up to full height for the climb back up.

The Joplin seatpost works on the same principle as your typical office chair, the seatpost's hydraulic action allows you to instantly fine tune your seat height, and therefore your riding position. If you don’t want to drop the saddle the whole way down, fine, just let go the lever once your saddle is at the desired height and you are ready to ride. No more interrupting the flow while you mess around with your seat collar. Just get on your bike and ride.

Features:

• material - aluminum
• post length - 382mm
• weight – 461g
• adjustment range - 75mm / 3in.
• diameters available - 30.9mm and 31.6mm
• warranty - 2 years

on a personal note:
i got one of these a year ago. it did leak, but 2pure sorted it for me. so the tales of unreliability may be true, but there's a good 2 year warranty. consider yourself warned.

these are not suspension seatposts!

one of the best bike upgrades i ever did. but, now RockShox are in the game, these older designs may not be the best choice long term imho.

anyway CRC found some more, they're pretty, light and when they work, great.

Quite heavy.

that's light for an adjustable. think it's one of the lightest?
the gravity dropper (without oil etc) is still over 400g.
