I lapped up every under 16s competition In my country when I was 8- 11 and won nearly everything I entered but that was decades ago now to win a national art competition at 10 you have to draw photolike it's incredible. I'm really torn I SEE his love n passion it's not about winning I was lucky. I've been too busy to tutor or help him or guide no one helped me for sure. Is this product a good idea? I'm lost. If it helps him I'd buy it but im Afraid I'll limit his imagination which compared to mine at his age is off the scale. Ideas are amazing his drawing not so much very child like but he's 6. But he draws all day long. Wakes up, goes to sleep pen in hand. Would this be useful in any way?

As a professional illustrator, I believe there are a whole host of ways to learn to draw whether you're 6 or 126. Tracing is one of those ways, so giving your son this will be an excellent choice. Just make sure to use a variety of styles / things to draw so he doesn't get stuck in one style. Oh, and this is the OPPOSITE of lazy parenting - you're thinking through and asking what's best for him, being sure to not stifle his skill and creativity. As parents we do what we can with the time and energy we have. Sounds like you're doing great
