AliExpress is having a 4-day long anniversary sale and the 'basic' Creality Ender-3 has dropped from $234.22 to $166.30, including delivery from within UK. Use the code 'LUCKY9' to save a further $10, which brings it down to $156.30/~£119 (using google's exchange rates). I believe this is the best price this printer has been for a while.

I've opted for the glass plate + 5 nozzles set instead for an extra $9, totalling $164.65/~£125 with code. This option is greyed out if you select 'ships from UK' so instead, choose Germany - delivery is still free to UK and won't have to pay tax.

Don't forget cashback!

Edit: Corrected currency conversion £133 -> £125.

If you’re too narrow minded to think what this tech is capable of us printer guys don’t mind you being boring elsewhere 😘

Main use is if you already build and design your own bits, as makes creating housings / bespoke parts a lot easier. For the layman, agreed they really are limited use and I imagine most people get them and don't use them after a few goes.
Being a layman - could I use this to build Lego compatible train tracks?

Fingers crossed for a free upgrade then! In all honesty though, I've come to expect nothing less than messy, obtuse and confusing listings on these import sites.
i’ve had an ender 3 for six months and love it! needed s custom mount for a cctv camera the other day, printed one out. custom pi boxes, speaker stands, loads of models, i love it! takes a bit of setting up - bed levelling is a pain so a bltouch is essential - but this is a fantastic printer for the price with a great online support community on fb. definitely recommended at this price

It really depends on how creative you are it's not for everyone. It can replace broken parts for pretty much anything around the house. I'd say it'd pay for itself just on repairs.

How essential is a bed levelling tool?

Would you mind recommending some upgrades for the Ender-3 whilst I'm still browsing?

bed levelling can be done manually quite easily but it becomes a bit of a pain after doing it over and over - i use an official bltouch. an upgrade to the extruder is always recommended. dampers on the motors reduce sound quite a bit but most upgrades can be printed, such as feet to reduce noise, filament guides, cooling systems for the nozzle, the list is very long! it does however work very well out of the box if it is set up right so all upgrades are optional

1, Not essential, once you have done it a couple of times it is quite easy to do, a lot of people recommend replacing the springs under the bed (for firmer ones). I have left my one stock & only have to level the bed after maybe 4-5 prints.

2 If you have a look on Thingiverse & search ender 3 there are loads of printable upgrades available. I got my ender 3 for xmas & have so far printed a cable chain, lcd & pcb cover, dampening feet, filament guide, extruder knob & some ribbon cable clips.

Is this the sort of spring being recommended? aliexpress.com/sto…p59 - seems pretty dear!

Edit: looks like you can get similar springs from different sellers for a couple of quid each instead.

Yeah, looks like it, apparently it is better to get firmer springs the cheap ones will probably be okay ( I have left my one standard as I don't have any issues) . There is a brilliant community on reddit, who know a lot more than I do. Definitely worth having a look on there.
Where do you guys buy your filament from? Apologies for all the questions - I've got newbie enthusiasm!
Can anyone suggest a good filament supplier in the UK?
Ender 3 or anet a8?
I probably should have mentioned earlier but completely forgot........ There seems be a bit on an issue with warped beds (quite common), my one suffered from this, I resolved it by using the glass bed.
I've got one of these, solid printer

Honestly I just use Amazon. You can get Amazon Basics or Anycubic branded rolls for around £18 a kilo, and occasionally they do lightning deals to knock a few further quid off. They're not premium brands like Hatchbox but they're all I've ever used and I've no complaints.

I had an Anet A8 and lost patience with it - you need to be prepared to put a lot of time and patience into tinkering with these kit ones - something sadly I didn't have

Aliexpress are crap, Just had delivered a electric bike battery and battery support, when it arrived the plastic/metal battery support and the ignition switch was broken. I contacted them with great difficulty and was told they would send me a replacement but it would cost me $60 for postage. I told them to get stuffed and will force a refund
Your issue has nothing to do with AliExpress themselves but a specific seller on AliExpress.
I'm interested in getting one of these but not convinced you wont have to pay tax to recieve the item in the uk,

Depending on the model, you can select from UK, Germany and Poland as the warehouse it will ship from. If you select any warehouse outside of the EU, then of course you will likely be charged tax.
