It's not download file and press print. It's not quite that simple, however it is easy to use. you can go to thingiverse and find a model and print it ... but you do need to know a bit about levelling the bed, about how to use the slicer (e.g. Cura). You will have failed prints, it's inevitable but the Ender 3 is still a very good printer for it's price.
I've been printing for a few years now. This is currently my printer of choice. If I hadn't bought one backmin June, i'd be ordering one from here NOW!

Easy to put together and calibrate. Solid build and prints very well indeed.

Brilliant!

I want something a little bit more testing for him than a games console.
Thanks.
Cheers bud, ordered. I didn't read the title fully at first and didnt realise creality made the ender 3

No idea how old your Grandson is, but 3D printers are not toys and can be dangerous.

Any place where you can get a easy beginners guide to that stuff? I know won't be that easy as print but thinking of messing about with this. What else would I need where do you get the material to print stuff out with. I heard you can print parts for the machine as well do you recommend anything to help. Thanks in advance.
Very nearly pushed the button on one of these last night at £154. Glad I waited. THanks!

PLA is the easiest and cheapest to start out with. I usually get mine from Amazon under £20 for 1kg

I watched a bunch of youtube videos while I was waiting for mine to be delivered. I like the "Teaching Tech" channel and Flying Junkies channel has several Ender 3 vidoes.

The filament you can buy online, Amazon / eBay / dedicated printing places. It's all pretty much standard stuff just make sure that it's the 1.75mm stuff (most of it is). Yes, you can print parts. I highly recommend you print the fan cover. I've also printed a filament guide and a raspberry pi holder since I use Octoprint. If you go to thingiverse, go to collections and type Ender 3 you will find all the things that people have uploaded to modify this printer. There are a lot of mods you can do.
Ordered mine from AliExpress on Friday, via German distribution centre. Came Saturday morning with free standard delivery. Thought I'd be waiting until Christmas. If Quidco payout, works out slightly cheaper.

Got one of these. These are great but you will spend a lot of time tinkering, fine tuning, modding and pulling your hair out because there are so many variables to consider for each individual print. And QC on this printer is poor. Warped beds being a common failure.

I wouldn't say hard but can be frustrating I will print lots then for seemingly no reason the prints will fail.

This can be due to bed adhesion printer not level, or filiment not at the right temperature and that's just for starters but they definitely are not plug and play.

The grandson in question has just turned 17 and was tutored in electrical repairs/soldering/multimeters/ all types of problem solving.
By me.

Thanks.

Pla is what you’re looking for as a starter. eBay/amazon have loads. Read reviews! I only really buy from filamentive in leeds. Recycled material. It’s beautiful. And they’re having a 50% cyber weekend this weekend.
Ps. Make sure you buy 1.75mm filament for this printer.

Cheers man really useful info
This has nearly inspired me to fix the remaining problems with my ender 3
Really tempted by this, but it would be 100% impulse buy.
What's this lack that more expensive ones have?

Primarily fancy it for printing board game pieces but sure much more...
I bought the pro a few weekends ago. Built it within a day, made my own files by the next. Great bit of kit, tempting to get a second one, non pro, for abs and experiments.

There aren't many differences between this and the pro.

Pro has a magnetic base as standard (most people recommended a glass bed instead)
Uses a better brand power supply, but I think the newer Ender 3 also do?
Wider Y axis so slightly more stable.
Not much more, I think the Pro is another £70, I paid about £120 more. Overall this is much better value for money as far as I know.

Thank op ordered. Bought my son the monoprice mini last Christmas which if anyone wants a plug and play printer has been great, but he constantly moaned about the print size so hopefully this will sort him cheers

I think the current 20% off is just for the cosmic glitter range36164484-HMehz.jpg

Does it come with divorce papers?

Ok , I've decided not to get one after I saw this reddit.com/r/3…se/
Additional £15 delivery to Northern Ireland I'll tell the DUP to pull the plug on the Tories if they don't sort that

3D Printers require supervision. Not leaving alone and certainly not running when you aren't around some of the earlier ones had cheap Chinese power supplies. I've not heard of this occuring in any of the Creality ones.. but I imagine this person probably left it printing and went out to come back to that. But we don't know what happened, it doesn't say.
