It actually says £0.49 (or £.49). 0.49p is slightly less than half a penny.

So going by that £1.49p is slightly less than one and a half pence,£11.49p is slightly less than eleven and a half pence and £111.49p is slightly less than one hundred and eleven and a half pence???

Doesn't look right to me!!

Does anyone know if this cheese has the white crystals in it??

God I hope not! Apparently cheese freaks love them but I don't.

I remember the wife bought some "hyper mature" cheddar from Sainsbury a few years ago and was full of crunchy calcium lactate crystals - horrible! She is now under strict instructions to only buy mild cheddar, or face my wrath!

Don't worry - when I say "wrath", I actually mean "mild irritation".

I noticed today that Tesco value mild cheddar slices (240g) are back down to 59p.

This is proper cheddar just cut into slices, so £2.46 per kilo is pretty good. The grated version of the same cheese is £3.74 per kilo.

Not keen on cheese slices tbh.

Had a bad experience as a student when I used them to make cheese on toast for a girl I managed to lure back to my gaff - I forgot to peel off the plastic (not the girl, the cheese).

She'd eaten a slice before we realised! Oh how we laughed!

Still, she got her revonge - 13 years of marriage (so far).

The Asda website is showing that they have 1kg blocks of Smartprice Mature Cheddar for £1.64. I don't live near an Asda so can't confirm if this is correct, but obviously it's very cheap if it is.
