Bought one of these a while ago, does not work with vista. Managed to get the softwarte to work fine on xp but you need to be in a very strong reception area or use your house aerial.

Good price though so voted hot

Thanks Adiebear

Think few people had problems with VISTA campatibility last time and hence the warning about XP only compatibility in the title.

it works with vista in media center so its still a good deal for those with vista premium or ultimate

can u get a good pic is it hd ready

After reading other peoples reviews about the software that come with it not being good I installed 3rd party dvb viewing software... I spent hours trying to get it to be clear as it was dark and picked up hardly an channels. So I thought try the Creative tv viewing software...and hey presto..it found all the channels and the quality of the image was crystal clear..and this was using the little antenna supplied..i admit I don't live far from the broadcasting antenna But for the price...and it works great.. I can;t fault it for now.

I s-video from puter to TV,but this is great for the price for what it is and does, HOT!

Good price if you're lucky enough to get good reception. Every PC freeview stick/card I've used has needed a powered antenna to work (which renders it useless if you want it on the move in a laptop).

Still voting hot, just for the price.

Freeview needs a aerial upgrade, so make sure you either have excellent reception, or connect it to your roof top aerial.
My USB freeview adapter isn't much use to me.

I have a similar one to this. There is NO problem with Vista if you know what you are looking for.
Even easier if you media centre.

Ariels are generally **** both indoors and out, also depends on where you live. Add a bigger ariel and things will be fine

BlazeTV will allow the user to view programs using vista basic.

Ahh just bought a Hauppage one from PC World yesterday for £20 doh! I should return that and get this and save myself a tenner. Cheers OP

hi everyone, sorry if i am being a bit blonde here! i have windows xp, do i need anything else? as it says media centre? di i just follow instructons to install then and i get tv? thanks shaz.

Anyone know if its mac compatible?

Freeview is not HD. It will be eventually, but not until mid-2009 at the earliest.

but 'Freeview' is NOT 'FreeSat', this is a freeview receiver.

Anyone know if I'd be able to bung this in beside my PCI-based TV card to give Media Center dual tuner capability? Or is that a no-no?

your also all need special freeview boxes to view HD anyway.

also another similar tuner at the same price with more reviews and possibly more vista compatible?

I bought this last week.Been using under MCE2005,trouble is it keeps crashing my PC.Then i have unplug it and plug it back in again to get it working again.
So i am sending it back, plus it doesn't receive the full channels via my ariel...

what about vista basic ?

Software that comes with it is utter **** though, keeps crashing when displaying EPG. FYI am using MCE 2005

HI
XP and Media Centre are two different versions of Windows - i guess it should come with bundled software to let it run in XP - BUT - you may be able to use it in XP by installing something like MyTheatre or ProgDVB ...........

which channels will I be able to watch for free after I buy this?

thanks...

Anyone know if you can get this thing to work in OS X using some other drivers?

I know it can be done with some other cards but don't know about this.

Same as you get with any Freeview Receiver.

;-)

BTW...Arial is washing powder.

Aerial is what is needed to get this thing to work.:)

Have looked at many tvcard for pcs, everyone depends on the aerial.

So can I ask anyone knows where i can bought a gooda aerial?

Have wanted to buy this from Amazon several times but the only thing stopping me was the lack of a remote control

go for the other other one mention earlier I'm sure that had a remote and was about same price

Gone up to £18 now (looks like amazon are out of stock, so it is now showing the price of an amazon seller)

If anyone is attempting to use this with Vista, one of the amazon reviews describes how to get it working.

Dave.

Works absolutely fine with Vista. To save you a headache, here's the drivers
rapidshare.com/fil…zip

Just extract, point it at where you extracted and you're done. Works with Media Centre no problem.

In fact, the performance with Windows Media Centre in Vista excretes from a great height over the awful software that they bundle with it for XP.

Got it workiong in vista with the same drivers, but my version of media player does not seem to have tv tuner functionality - is this because I have vista home basic?

It is - needs to be Home Premium or Ultimate.
