According to the blurb on down the page it works in Vista using Media Centre.

So does this do the same job as a TV/video card :?

Can I run an aeriel from my tv set top box and record onto my pc using this?

It lets you watch Freeview TV on you PC and gives you the capability to record it too.

Depending on where you are though the aerial supplied is sometimes not suitable and can give very poor reception.

You could split the aerial going into your Set Top Box (STB) which will just give you to get better reception to the USB DVB supplied for the PC.

But this won't allow you to record from your STB to your PC, if that's what your meaning ?

The kit you get above allows you to record on your PC anyway. It's just a Freeview Tuner attached to your PC that you can record on your PC.

Voted cold, I'm afraid.
This isn't a 'DEAL' just because it has an overinflated rrp.
Check this out for a better product.

Why would a no-name product at the same price be a better deal? The rrp is irrelevant, it costs £9.99 now.

Voted hot

OK. Ignoring the 'name' and the RRP compare the reviews on both products for a Better comparison.

i find these things useless. always need an external aerial. good price tho. voted hot price.

Any workaround/voucher for free shipping?

I paid £14.99 for this in Nov - it definately does NOT work with Vista (says so on the package, although Amazon failed to mention this) - and I had to return to them. Good price at £9.99 though..........

.....and the supplied aerial is not great - agree with comments that you need a roof aerial or place the supplied on on a metallic item to boost the signal.

Looking at the reviews this works with Windows Media Centre to!
Voted HOT!

This will work with Media Centre within Vista

I never use the supplied software with these devices anyways

Good price for a branded item.
Would make a nice addition to a media centre setup using something like SesamTV ( sesamtv.com ) and a remote control.
An external antenna is a must unless you're in line of sight of a transmitter.

Does anyone know if the windows centre remote control will allow me to change channels or will I still need to use the remote that comes with the tuner?

I also paid £15 for mine, I've tried it once to prove it works (which it does), but I need to have it permanently installed with a dedicated aerial, because I don't get anything through the supplied aerial.

would you still need better aerial on say a laptop outside in the garden in the summer(if we get one this year grrrr)

for anyone with access to an external aerial near their pc this is a steal

Anybody used this on Vista 64 bit? I have wanted one of these things for a while but never found anything known to work with vista 64 bit.

make sure that you have a very strong signal in your area. these adapters need a stronger signal to work (even if your set top box works it's no guarantee that these adapters will work wth the same roof aerial). this is my experience with several different USB tv adapters.

I bought this having already got a Freecom one from a couple of years ago. I was expecting the same or better from this as it is Creative Labs, however it is much worse than the Freecom one. One big gripe, is the channels cannot be re-organised. How **** is that? The software is rubbish too. At a tenner it's cheap, but if you want one you will be happy with, look elsewhere for a bit more money.

According to the photos on Amazon, it has no remote.

Unless you have one as part of a Media Centre PC, the lack of a 'doofer' makes this a much less attractive option than its rivals, starting at only £6 more.

sounds like a fair comment

If this has BDA drivers, you can use it with GBPVR which is a excellent piece of software, 100000000000 times better then the software that comes with these devices. So if the only problem people have with this device is the software use ]gbpvr.com

Have to agree if you dont live near a mast(like less than 5 miles away) the little aerial wont work and you will need to plug a external aerial in.
Hot deal

i remember reading about this a few weeks ago and at this price. The consensus was that it was ****, despite the low price with a very weak tuner. Even with a decent aerial, it won't pull in all the available stations.
It is being discounted because it is end of line and will not be made Vista compatible, so do not buy in the hope of getting a driver update.

It doesn't have a BDA driver so unfortunately I am stuck with the rubbish software.

Please read the reviews on the above item if considering this.
It DOES work with vista.
it DOES come with a remote.
The ariel DOES work.

Read the review on both gadgets and I'm sure that the one I mentioned comes out on top.
Upto you, where you spend your monies of course but I know which one I am considering.

No Brainer really.

Because the "no-name" product is clearly better than the dire creative labs (who aren't exactly a fantastic brand) model.

We've got these at work, even 6 floors up it's a dodgy signal!

Yeh i've got one too a bit...flaky in all areas im affraid.

Yes there is.

If you order another item that is out of stock/awaitingg delivery 3-4 weeks or something of that nature. Make sure both the items total cost is more than £15.00

You order both, and wait until your tuner is un-cancelable due to it being ready for dispatch. You then go back and cancel other item that is not due for delivery for a few weeks.

Amazon do not then charge you for delivery of the 1 item

delivery £6, I thought we post prices including delivery?

That's clever ... thanks for the tip

Just wondering if anyone has tried this with a Mac. Typically, vendor's don't bother with drivers, but since most devices have a common set of chips inside them anyway, and the Mac comes with a whole load of drivers for different devices out of the box, there's a good chance this might just work.

Specifically, I'm wondering whether it works with the excellent EyeTV software.

that's clever that, cheers

I got one of these last time for £14.99 and it doesn't work with vista. The software thats listed in the review doesn't seem to be downloadable from anywhere so unless someone can get a copy of that, I wouldn't bother..

I installed it on a xp machine and it was xxxx on that too...
