IF YOU ARE INTENDING TO USE THIS WITH YOUR ECHO DOT PLEASE READ POST #69

I've been looking for a 'do everything' portable speaker to go with my Echo Dot. I've tried the Sumvision Psyc Monic and the UE Boom 2 and they're both a bit meh so I was looking for something else to try.

I came across some reviews for this and they are pretty good, and most of the reviews are at £130+.

It's £79.99 on the Creative website with free delivery and there's also a charging dock thrown in for free which retails at £49.99.

5% TCB/Quidco

A quick rundown of what it has:

Bluetooth with NFC
15 hour battery life
Integrated MP3 player
Karaoke function
Works as a powerbank to charge your phone
3.5mm Aux input
Super Megaphone no idea

Loads more but you can look yourself

£10 discount code if you sign up to the Creative newsletter here although that takes it below the free delivery threshold, so £4 delivery X)

Thanks Steve353

SoundBlaster - wow, there's a throwback to struggling to get the drivers working for Theme Hospital circa 1997.

Are these the ones that you shout through the letterbox and they open the front door?

I decided against based on Amazon US reviews, but I like bass. amazon.com/gp/…_cr

What in the reviews puts you off? They look pretty good to me or is it one specific thing that gets mentioned?
Pretty good solution as you can leave it in the dock BUT does it power down/wake up automatically? Doubtful, sadly.

Remains to be seen. The UE Boom 2 that's connected at the moment doesn't wake up instantaneously (<< didn't even have to check spelling :p) though. You miss about one second at the start of anything she might say before the sound comes through.
Would be interested to know how it compares in terms of sound quality to a Sonos Play 1. Presumably quite a bit worse, but price does reflect that.
Thanks for posting - the perfect accompaniment to our Echo Dot. And a great price, with the docking station - ordered.

I looked at the Play 1 as an option but sadly, it doesn't have an Aux 3.5 line-in, or Bluetooth for that matter.

Yes, back in the day I hated Creative Labs and HP as their drivers used to break nearly everything on my PC's
you need to bang that echo dot on eBay and buy a proper device, like Google Home.
I tried Samsung R1 from amazon and I am returning it next week. It was good with nice bass but there was no thump to the sound. The lows were good, but the mid-lows (between lows and medium ?) were weak.
I would be interested to see its comparison with flip 4 and play 1. I am still looking for a good bluetooth speaker and haven't found anything yet.

Maybe in a year or so when (if) it catches up with the Echo/Dot, but for now, every head to head I've read comes down on the side of the Echo.

£79.99 is a steal for this. TCB extra £2.50 off and 5% cashback with the offer posted today.

Probably about £74 after all the discounts and free dock and postage. Brilliant.

WHHAAATTT!!!
I'm torn.

I really want bluetooth speaker for cira £150 but I can't work out what. It's just for the kitchen / wandering about the house with and will probably be plugged in 90% of the time.

The Goodmans HP1WOD is part DAB and can stream, which I like, but how would it compare sound wise to this? There is also the Creative Sound Blaster Roar, which seems like the bigger brother of the one here, but is (nearly) double the price. Then there is the Pure Evoke H6 - which is nearer £200 quid,

I am not an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, but tinny bass annoys me, and I can't tell from the reviews which I would be best going for. I just like a full sound that can drown out my awful singing..

Anyone got any opinions on these (or others?)

I hear you. I can only go off the reviews until it arrives, but by then it will be too late, I think the promo expires soon.

You should try a Marshall Acton - comparison with a Bose Soundlink Mini II (use headphones for the best effect): youtube.com/wat…-yw

I bought my 1st BT speaker (a relatively cheap Sony SRS-XB3) a few days ago as a makeshift, but the Marshall Acton is the one I'm really after as my main.
Nice deal deeky, heat added
What wattage is this? I have tried a dozen links, but could not see it anywhere.
If you're looking for a great portable speaker with 'streamcasting', bluetooth and line in then I highly recommend the Sony X-77. It's million times better than the Sonos Play 1 imo.

Same X)

A bit more research suggests you're not gonna find out any time soon X)

We e-mailed Creative to request the wattage specification."With regards … We e-mailed Creative to request the wattage specification."With regards to your enquiry, please be informed that the Root-Mean-Squared (RMS) power rating for the Sound BlasterAxx does not accurately represent how powerful the product's actual audio output is. All Sound BlasterAxx units are designed with special circuitry, highly efficient acoustic tuned drivers and an airtight enclosure. These give significantly more audio power or Sound Pressure Level (SPL) output than the actual electrical power specification or RMS power rating. In other words, a high RMS rating does not mean high Sound Pressure Level output. So in this case, RMS specifications are not meaningful for the Sound BlasterAxx."Needless to say, no wattage figure was given.

So would the mic work on the bluetooth as well? I currently have the dot connected by aux to my hifi, & would like to be able to take something like this out to the garden or in the bathroom & be able to ask alexa to play music when I'm out of range from the dot.

Yeah, seems to be. It just says 'available soon' now. It was available for pre-order for 4th May availability for a while. Perhaps that allocation has been used up now.
