Not ignorant at all @smallsteve , Base layers keep you warm whilst allowing your skin to breathe. They are designed to be, basically, your underwear in colder conditions. You can pay a fortune for well known branded items, but these are ridiculously good value. It's a personal thing, what ever feels comfortable.

Orange stitching doesn't really matter after a few miles, trust me. Comfort does.

Aldi did them in merino wool a few yrs back for this price - unlikely to be merino - they are designed to be skin tight good if you live in colder regions.

I’ve got some UA leggings, but don’t wear anything over the top of them; rightly or wrongly! I assume these leggings are essentially the same thing without the badge!?
I only have one pair of Cold Gear leggings and hence need more as I run most days of the week.
Know what you mean about the colour and i suppose in the dark it is even less noticeable, which is when i tend to run in winter. But, because i train most days, i tend to wear the stuff through the day as i am too lazy to get changed later on. Hence, and also being a bit vain, i don’t want to look too untrendy!
good deal op, I have couple of pair of UA leggings...wear them in the summer and winter wear a pair of nike shorts over them when cycling

I'm no expert, far from it. You run most days, so you know what works for you. This post was just to try and help people like you and me. I will be running most days over the winter, so these fit the bill as they are comfortable and affordable.
I consider 6 to 10 miles a long walk never mind jogging!
Would these be any good for the commute on a motorbike under work trousers? Would these get too hot when indoors? I probably couldn’t be arsed to take them off in the office.

I wear thermal base layer pants under my jogging bottoms in winter and they do the job - a necessary item in my view.
I think some Base Layers are designed that You can wear them alone, some under shorts or trousers :/

As I said, I think it's personal. To find the correct running attire for you is so personal. To find kit that doesn't rub, chaff, etc is the holy grail. These are a cheap option for me, which helped. I hope they might do the same for someone on here.

Heat from me
As I made my son's wear them under their clothes in high school last year in the colder weather & converted my 12 & 14 year olds!!! In P.E & Games the teacher quizzed them what they were wearing under their school uniform :/ (they got told off & 30min detention if they wear games kit under them) but once they told him that their mum made them wear thermal trousers & short sleeve tops to keep them warm under school uniform. The teacher said he envied them lol Bless can't beat old skool
These are alright for the money & do the trick. Will be defined stocking up again for this year for them.
Thanks

Oh good ol' British schools with power hungry teachers who despite working in a school they havent got a ounce of common sense nor do they have a sense of the world around them

If I could go back to high school now there is a couple things I would want to stay to my teachers but never did out of fear of being suspended, not really insults just point out things what make them bad humanbeings
