Not really - this is the very slow v4 model not the m4.

Very good price, they misprinted as SATA-600, in fact it's SATA-300. Heat added.

38p precisely, just a small correction.

fwiw, I don't think Crucial has yet to release any firmware update for this new V4 product to address the freezing issue reported by owners

Don't get this if you have a Mac! Read all the user problems.

Otherwise hot as a normal drive.

Stop living in Benchmark Land you fool.

It's not just benchmark land, it's real life. I had one of these and RMA'ed it. It's slower than a spinny disk.

Looks like a mis-price anyway as it is priced below the 64GB drive - the 128GB without laptop kit is £62.99 + P&P:

It's certainly no upgrade to a decent desktop 7200rpm or 10000rpm drive

Good deal

Ok, the drive is certainly slow by SSD standards but there's no need to go overboard and call it slower than a HDD.

It still beats the Velociraptor 150GB which is the fastest consumer HDD available.

Got this from ebuyer and sent it straight back, it hangs far too much with both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.10. You get what you pay for i guess, certainly wasn't worth any more in all honesty.

For a laptop that only as SATA-300 on the chipset, is this worth getting? What percentage speed increases will there be over the 7200rpm 2.5" SATA HDD I've got in there? Obviously there are heat and noise benefits to consider.

Thinking of ways to speed up my laptop.

Does this ssd fit most laptops?

Got the sata2 OCZ Vertex 60Gb from Curry's for £30 used for a fortnight and a definite improvement over HDD,well worth it.

just upgraded my Dell vostro1400 with this SSD and difference is huge in terms of speed, quietness and battery life - all great. currently running ubuntu 12.04 and boot time is under7 secs. havnt experience any lockups using ubuntu and this SSD on my 5 year old laptop.

Yes it will fit any laptop that supports SATA hard drives, but not IDE drives.

this has got to be very hot

Beast deal, buy this if you need an SSD people.

If you need more space buy two of them or more, this is the best price right now.

Is this better … Is this better thanhttp://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/verbatim-128gb-sata-3gb-s-2-5-solid-state-drive-for-48-99-dabs-1350287

That's a first generation Sandforce drive, which I would avoid like the plague due to it's dodgy reputation for reliability.

Was going to wander along with just another warning on how awful this drive is, but one of the two V4s we have died last week, two months after purchase. I appreciate that data is not the plural of anecdote, but this is the first of ~25 ssds I have known to fail in over 3 years. Random data corruption all over the drive.

Cold in the way a paper car would be; faster than walking but worse in every way than any other car you could possibly buy.

Looking for a Sata II drive for a boot drive for my gaming desktop, this is however barely an improvement over the 7200 already there. Would usually just get a Sata 3 ready to reuse it once upgraded but if there's a II cheap enough....

Prices are and will continue to plummet - SSD's relatively cost very little compared to a spinning disk - less failures, easier production etc etc.

i'm running my OS from an old ocz vertex plus and it makes a world of a difference. even a really slow SSD will beat any HDD by miles.

Avoid Misco like the plague. If they run out of stock they will charge you anyway and then sit on your money for at least a month requiring multiple phone calls, them not calling back etc etc until you threaten legal action & then they'll refund your card.

You have been warned!

I notice they only offer 1 year warranty rather than 3 years elsewhere so probably grey imports. Scan have this drive for £77 with 3 year warranty.

wouldn't touch waeplus with someone else's... money.

How did you arrive at that figure, please?

Granted, this will be an improvement on your hdd but where do you put the essential programs on a 128gb wouldn't a 256gb be better suited.
