Actually to be fair I have an old laptop with 2 memory slots 2 x 2 gb where one failed so in the scrap like. Will double check isn’t not ddr4 as might recommission it although it’s sufficiently old wouldn’t surprise me if ddr2

My 2018 core i5 8350u based hp laptop was sold to me with a meager 2 times 2 gigabyte RAM. Personally I would prefer to max it out at 16gb but I do really think 4 to 8 gb is a valid upgrade path for this computer.

No, it was far cheaper then the same machine with more ram. Same for the nvme ssd the current one being 128gb really drove the price down. With the operating system and the applications I use it has been very much enough for me. At the time the processor and the full HD screen where more important.

Maybe on windows 4gb is a bit low these days.

Point was that it makes no sense to replace this laptop as it is plenty fast for all my needs and more and thus there is use for these sticks

It was more pointing out that it “was sold to me with a meagre…” sounded like you hadn’t checked and were complaining about it!

If you’re happy with how it and how much you paid for it then it’s all good.
If you need some cheap DDR4, best bet is CEX, It's only £8 for 4GB I believe (2666Mhz, 3200MHz is £12)

eBay is also a good shout, tonnes of 2666MHz Micron and Hynix sodimms on there from Macs.
Desktop (not laptop!) version for £14.86 if you need it: linky
