Such an amazing upgrade for any traditional HDD machines. This is a great price.

I've got 480gb in my lappy, I'll be getting a 1tb drive as soon as they're around this price.

Indeed. Any machine without a SSD feels broken now, they are just too unresponsive.

TBH Samsung is the way to go with anything these days.

I have had great performance increases in laptops with SSHD's. Not as fast as SSD or in as wide of scenarios but still significantly better than HDD and high capacity drives are far more affordable. Only shame is the 2.5" versions with 7200rpm seem to have been discontinued

I would have agreed with you up to a few months ago but I am waiting for Samsung to fix the 840 bug and see if the 840 EVO is a permanent fix or not (see link) before I consider buying another Samsung 'anything'.

Hardly one person as Samsung have released a firmware update to address the issue; hopefully permanently but as it appears over time too early to say for sure.

I've seen evidence on Reddit that the issue isn't really fixed.

I've also been told by someone I know who works for ARM that the issue with Samsung SSDs is they were trying to be too ambitious with their shrinking of the die. Too much noise apparently.
