Erm.. you just sign up for the free 30-day trial on the .de site, it has nothing to do with the .co.uk Prime membership at all.

Noob question, my laptop has 8gb ddr4 in one slot which it came with,
Can I just buy another 8gb ddr4 from a different company, or do I have to buy both 8gb sticks new.
And does it have to be the same MHz as the other stick

Firstly, do you know if there is a second empty slot? Can the laptop take 16GB? If you're not sure check on Crucial's website either by the drop down menus or they have a system checker tool to confirm what you can and can't have etc...

If you can get another stick of RAM, then it's best to match the speeds (MHz) as best you can, though if you can't the system will run both sticks at the speed of the slowest one.

Hope that helps?

[Edit: This is desktop RAM, you'll need the laptop equivalent version for that]

First off you cannot use this ram since this is desktop ram. You need to buy laptop ram.

You can buy another 8gb stick even If its from a different company provided its the same Mhz (different Mhz will work too but it'll put both of them to the lowest Mhz of the two sticks)

Besides needing RAM specific for a laptop, you'll also need to find some that matches the CAS latency of the RAM you currently have. Otherwise, you'll have to mess with the BIOS to set it. Best case scenario, it'd auto-configure to use the slowest timings. But it's just as likely to simply not boot.
If it's just an old laptop for general use, pick some up from one of the trashy second-hand games shops like CEX. Think they sell a stick of laptop RAM for about £10.
I got the Asus GL503G laptop and want to upgrade the single 8gb ram with two 16b rams.

It needs CT16G4SFD824A or CT2K16G4SFD824A but it costs £80 per stick on Amazon.
Found a seller on ebay for £70. Anyone able to find cheaper (even through other countries Amazon sites)? thanks

If you really need 32GB, then I assume you are using it for something performance intensive, in which case I'd opt for the 2666MHz RAM which is the fastest your chipset and CPU support - £149 for 32GB Corsair.

Go to the Crucial website and they have a nifty little scanner that tells you exactly what you have and what memory you need to buy

uk.crucial.com

You then can buy from amazon

uk.webuy.com/pro…oryTake the machine in the store, or ring up for a crucial stick, (check stocks by calling stores).or buy a matched pair by ringing up and sell the crucial stick.
Personally I would just walk in a shop that shows lots of stock and try it out,the staff seem to know about ram these days (they didnt, a few years ago).

He did too, my bad. They want 60 each for 16's, I would ring up the kingston branch to see if its a matched pair (the sellers usually sell what ever is in a dead machine, unlikely to be 1x16 ) they will give 18 for the old stick.

Yes but I dont think it will matter nearly so much with the 3xxx series thats coming (looking forward to seeing some reviews of the coming 6 core for ~£180). It wasnt talked of during the keynote speech but it was mentioned after.
+15% IPC and ~ 200 Mhz, thats gonna beat an i7 8700 non k for a good chunk less. I think thats my crimbo present actually.

Thanks for the heads up, might check out the store to see if i get lucky. I prob gonna try get a Corsair CMSX32GX4M2A2666C18 Vengeance now seeing that's the best my machine can handle.
Would this work on a ASRock B450M or even any mobo that takes 2200G? I checked on ASRock website and I think it does. Just looking for cheap RAM on a budget / general use build.

matched pair on amazon 146 quid. sell the 1x8 on feebay for £30. How you came to own a gaming lappy with 1 x 8 gb in I dont know.(stock machine is 2666 2x8) Be aware unless you are video editing or rendering/transcoding video more than 16 gb is a waste. For gaming the 1050 t.i. graphics will be the limit before 2400 mhz ram speed (the ram and cpu can handle way more than the 1050 t.i. its an unbalanced set up) For pro tasks on intel ram speed scales poorly, techpowerup.com/rev…tml
You will see a big improvement going from 1 stick to 2 the same size (enables dual channel mode )
but nothing noticeable after that.
So if you aint rendering etc just match your existing 8 gb and forget about it.
But do swap the stick to the other slot and make sure that isnt faulty first, if the machine was bought used.
