This is one of the best Ram on the market

i have the exact same ones, running at 950MHZ so they overclock extremely well. If you dont want to overclock they have CAS Latency of 3, whereas most have 5 and "good" sticks have 4

if i had vista i would definitely buy another 2 gigs at this price.

Isn't this better for 3 pounds more?

Why would Ram with a CAS latency of 4 be better than CL3?

I'm similar to you, have 2GB already. Not sure if its worth going for more as it will be a while until I get Vista 64bit. In any case, this is excellent ram!

Anyone know if this will work in a 2nd Gen Macbook?

I used the crucial memory detection program to check what ram would work in my laptop and it said 'ddr2 pc2 5300' 1 gb max. The laptop has two slots so it says it will take two 1gb sticks.

Does anyone know if two of these 2gb sticks will work.

Thanx

This is desktop Ram not laptop.

Cheers for this: = (Rep + heat added)

Thanks,seems a very good price

I jumped in and bought this when it last came up. Thought I was getting a bargain at £57, and now it's £52, so it's a double-bargain now!

so whats the timings?

This is top ram

Crucial Ballistix ram has a lower case latency at default

the crucial ballistix one can potentially run twice as fast as its stated speed!
most other ram have a hard time overclocking 20% let alone 100%

this ram is definitely very good and great at £52 delivered

i would definitely buy another 2 gigs if windows XP didn’t limit me

How compatible is this stuff? I know some mobos can be funky with certain types of RAM - I thinking of buying an Asus P5B or Gigabyte 965 DS3 - any way I can tell if the Crucial Ballistix will be ok?

in other words....

ballistix > other DDr2 ram...

Remember that no overclocks are guaranteed no matter what experiences others have had. The RAM itself can vary and its "compatibility" (read overclocking potential) with your components can vary greatly.

It's great RAM though and at an amazing price. Voted hot back when this thread was just started.

you sure yours is DDR2 667 not 800?
100% headroom just sounds a bit crazy to me

That's what I'm saying lol, and lets assume for now that its the 667mhz version wouldn't it break or overheat if you overclocked it by 100%. Also, what improvments do you get out of overclocking ram? I am a n00b at this stuff.

You say you are a nub, yet all your posts question and doubt what others are advising.

This is an amazing price - credit to the OP.

As for what overclocking can do... have a quick look on wikipedia - gives a good basic overview - "Overclocking is the process of forcing a computer component to run at a higher clock rate than it was designed for or was designated by the manufacturer.

Overclocking is usually practiced by PC enthusiasts in order to increase the performance of their computers. Some hardware enthusiasts purchase low-end computer components which they then overclock to higher speeds, while others overclock high-end components to attain levels of performance beyond original specifications.

Users who overclock their components mainly focus their efforts on processors, video cards, motherboard chipsets, and Random Access Memory (RAM)." - rest at wikipedia

I got the memory... lovely looking set of ram =). thanks.

Just been emailed to tell me it is out of stock. Was showing stock allocated until today! I ordred within 20 mins of the deal going on here so I guess this is because I used Super Saver Delivery and their stock counts were wrong...

Not happy with ebuyer!

Normally Crucial ram works very well in ASUS motherboards. Go to the Crucial website & do their compatibility test.
