https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Crucial-MX500-1TB-vs-Crucial-BX500-960GB/m406099vsm666214 surely better the spend an extra tenner on the mx500?

Suppose it depends what you are using it for. I've picked up a BX500 (smaller size than this) for a PS3 with a knackered HDD. Doesn't really need SSD but may as well have less moving parts!

Mine will be a bootdrive lol. Will be waiting the the mx500 to drop again
Good price but I really wouldn’t recommend it if using it for an operating system. Spend £35 more and get the Samsung Evo SSD
For an extra £10 you get the MX. Simple choice.

Absolutely not necessary. As other posters have said the MX variant, which is a superior performer due to its DRAM, is a better choice and only costs £10 more.
This isn’t a good price for BX500 regardless.
the superior MX500 always been around £99-£106.bought one last week for £106 from amazon.
Worth noting that most stuff coming from Crucial at the moment is being dispatched via UPS from the Czech Republic and take over a week to arrive , so for non trade users Amazon may be the better bet.
is this a good option for a home NAS?
I agree, probably worth paying extra to purchase from Amazon. I ran in to issues with my M.2 drive from them and now have to pay to ship it to the Czech Republic.

BX series have bad sustained speeds.
Go for MX.
Marginally cheaper while slower and DRAM-less. Not worth it.
