Voted hot. Paid £30 more for almost identical to this not too long ago. Great SSD. I suspect it may get rather warm in here !
Heat from me once again!
I have the 250GB. Great little drive
£5 off RRP.
Paid a fiver more than this at Amazon just last week. Has transformed my laptop that was hamstrung with an epically slow HDD.
Why is this so hot?
Its £4.20 off the rrp of £115.19.
Solid drive & value for money per GB

Tiptop in depth review why this may, be a better value than the Samsung 850 Pro range...

Really want one of these. But think £100 is enough.
Bought one last week to pair with my 960 EVO boot drive. The MX500 is a very nice drive.

If you buy the frustration free packaging version, you can download the Crucial Executive drive management software here: uk.crucial.com/gbr…ton

And the Acronis data transfer software here: acronis.com/en-…ad/

From reading the reviews I think you get the software bundle only if you go for the retail packaging - it doesn't come with the frustration-free packaging.
My PC is running Windows 10 with 8GB of RAM, an i5-4460 CPU and a Crucial CT240M500SSD1 SSD. How big an improvement in performance would I be likely to see with this SSD upgrade? Storage space isn't an issue at the moment as most of my files are on a separate SATA mechanical hard drive. Thanks

it certainly is better than the M500 but you probably wont see much of an improvement over it, maybe a second or two from boot. Not enough to warrant the extra outlay unless you need the extra space. The cache works better.

Thats reads correct to me - received the retail pack from e-buyer and it included a licence key as part of the packaging. Someone else who purchased from Amazon received the "frustration free" packaging version (what???) and did not find have a licence key.
About what I got mine for 3yr ago.

I don't believe you need a license key to run the Crucial version of Acronis as it will only run on Crucial drives. I will install it tonight and check - personally I use Macrium Reflect Free for drive imaging. It's free and works with any drive...

You are correct, the licence key is no longer needed:

"Older versions of True Image HD used a 16-digit product key for registration of the program. This step is no longer required for the current version of the software. As long as a Crucial BX-series or MX-series drive is connected to the system, True Image for Crucial will now install without registration."

500gig Crucial drives have been out for years. Maybe don't take everything so literally.
