Very decent price considering £150 buys you 500 GB!

You probably wouldn't notice the difference in real (non benchmark) applications.
Also I think the space you "lose" on the Crucial is down to the overprovisioning.

Bargain of the Century!

Take a gander at the Crucial website, though and you’ll see the M500 960GB drive, which is still available, is some £56 dearer and is three generations older. I’m using the M500 1TB as a comparison as Crucial didn’t produce a monster version of the MX100 we reviewed recently and the M550 doesn’t appear to be listed anymore.

At least the MX200 brings a new write technology to some of the range but the most surprising thing about it is the huge leap in endurance over the previous drive range, thanks to the tweaks to the write technologies in the firmware.

Announced at the same time as two new drive ranges is the long-awaited Crucial SSD toolbox or, to give it its formal name, the Crucial Storage Executive – posh eh? With it you can update firmware, monitor the drive, securely erase it and reset the drive’s encryption password. As it stands, at the time of writing, the CSE is compatible with Windows 7 and higher and supports the M500, M550, MX100 and the two new drives.

you wont get the extra 40gb, its just how its marketed. For example my boot drive is a hyperx 3k 120gb ssd, but my system only shows 111gb, or my 2tb HDD only shows 1.81tb. Its all to do with GiB vs GB. heres a link

So does a 1TB drive format to the same capacity as a 960GB one?

Most likely, I dont own the drive in the post or the one you linked but seeing as my other two drives done something similar that's what I would expect don't quote me on that though.

No good for Alienware laptops new ones don't recognise crucial hardware they consider them inferior and therefore don't suppers them

No. I appreciate the previous poster tried to be helpful, but I think he is wrong.

He probably doesn't but if you wait a few weeks you can get a superior drive (850 evo) in terms of speed, warranty and IMO looks as well for the same price.
