What does the code 'CRUCIAL389.98' do?
Unless you really need 1 drive with 1TB (laptop perhaps?) You'd be a fool to buy this. The M500 may be slower, but you can get 2 of the 480gb's for £160 each, so £320 altogether - put them in RAID0 configuration and they will blow this out of the water.

What if you only have 2 6Gbps SATA sockets free and want to Raid 0 2 of these?
Someone may have a high power mini-ITX based machine with only space for one drive.

Typically the larger the SSD drive the faster it is, so sometimes space limitations and outright performance exceeds cost.

Or just get an 840 EVO for £360 which still outperforms this. It's not very wise to buy the M550 right now since it's just been released.

Obviously if you are going to RAID0 two of these they are going to be faster. If you have only space for one drive and you want 1TB then this is going to be the drive of choice.

Yes, that fact is true, but it doesn't deny the fact that you can get 40GB less for £60 less and have it be nearly twice as fast if you aren't limited to only one drive. This is a deals site, merely pointing out that there is a faster, cheaper alternative to this if you have enough room for more than one.

What does the code 'CRUCIAL389.98' do?

The Code is "CRUCIAL20" and it is supposed to reduce the price by £20 but I don't know how it worked out £378.98. I thought the price is good for Crucial's top end SSD.
I'll wait for it to fall below £200 before I get one. Got a 480gb one at the moment.

Worked for me:

Worth updating your description and title Op as your price is wrong; it's £369.98 after the £20 discount and it's free delivery.

I thought a RAID0 configuration meant you combined two equal capacity drives for additional speed but only had the capacity of one of the drives used ie; it would be faster but you'd only have 480GBs of available space?

Think that's RAID1 where you'd only have 1/2 the total space of the drives
RAID0 = Stripe (Max speed and space), RAID1 = Mirror (Good speed, but half space)
