Cheapest I've seen it, even if it is for an older model.

Heat from me, even if it is an older model you can't go wrong for sub 40 quid, will use this to build a cheap decent spec pc for my brother

That is a cracking price for the whole range!

Thanks for posting deal OP. Good find.

hot! this looks like a deal too 512gb

Awesome, heat added.

it looks like a 50% off deal ... 512GB is only £130...

Fantastic price for reliable drives!

Damn this site!!!

Wowsers, thanks OP! This is a bargain that I am all over. Have some heat!

These drives are great. I have a 128gb that I got as a warranty replacement 4 years (!) after buying a Crucial M4 SSD.

It supports Microsoft's eDrive hardware encryption standard, meaning that you can use a BitLocker password to encrypt/secure the drive without using software encryption (so there is no slowing down of the drive as with software encryption).

Crucial's technical support is amazing. As I mentioned, I had a no-quibble new-for-old replacement for a 4 year old drive that had slowed down.

thanks ordered this 500gb ssd for a great price and i was just going to pick a new 850 evo before but i was thinking. why.

how does the 512GB model compare to the new one? worth waiting for a good deal on new model?

I always thought that the m550 was a new model and not an old one!!! Is that not right? If not, what is the difference with the new one?

Great deal, I ordered some of the m4 refurbs in December but mine got lost in the post. Hopefully this one turns up.

M550 is the "enterprise" version of the M5xx range. The MX100 (which I guess you're referring to as the "new model") is effectively the M550 without any of the "enterprise" features (i.e. whole-disk encryption). The M550 has similar speeds to the MX100 but better specs.

How is the 550 an old model? It is their current consumer flagship.

Excellent price thanks Op. Will put this in as my 'app/scratch' drive alongside my older 60gb OS drive.

So which would boost my laptops performance more , double the ram or an ssd

70quid ( 8gb ram ) or 80 quid (256mb ssd) , or both ( doubling the price i paid for the laptop itself)

it starts in 30 seconds anyway and theres no hint of it being slow once its up and running

Was about to order from Curry's OCZ deal but this is a better deal! Thanks OP Heat Added!

An SSD, although you seemed to have no need for it if your laptop starts within 30 secs and doesn't seem slow.

if it could boost graphical power id be interested

i wonder whether people are sucked into this type of upgrade , when perhaps they dont need it ?

casual browsing i use tablet , something more serious laptop - And 30 seconds is neither here nor there !?!

my laptop is about 3/4 years old btw

Thanks btw

A SSD will not boost graphical power in any sort of way.

A SSD is essentially a super-fast hard drive and unless someone already has one, it's normally a great upgrade if you put the operating system on it. For some people it can change a 1-2 minute system start into a 10 second start.

Thanks to the op who posted this. It is a cracking price for a SSD. Its hard to believe I paid over £100 for my Samsung 128GB SSD a couple of years ago.

great find lokman
just ordered 256 gb for my desktop

Any good for my PS3?

Well done , great find. Just bagged the 256gb myself. Now if someone can just find me a i7 4790k Devils Canyon for the same discount ......

It will work, but is an overkill in terms of performance for a console. I would suggest a better option would be a larger HDD for the same cost rather than an SSD.

It wouldn't do that, most of the time to boost graphical power you'd need a new laptop. Or a very specific laptop which can take a limited amount of graphics cards. (Which would be an expensive laptop to begin with)

Maybe some people are sucked into the upgrade, but I'm putting this into a 3/4 year old laptop as I did the same with 5 year old laptop and it made a world of difference.

The 5 year old laptop was faster and more responsive compared to a desktop computer without said SSD. The only thing it wouldn't beat that in is raw power (math calculations, image editing, video editing stuff) but for browsing and general tasks it makes a laptop (old or new) much more bearable.

Everything becomes more responsive and no minor freezing waiting for things to open. That's the main reason I got one.

I've heard it reduces loading times and maybe improves game performance a little? I only have a couple of games as use it mainly for blurays and streaming but the Last of Us takes for ever to load!

This should get some heat. Really great deal.

Would I be able to clone my hdd and switch it with this without having to reinstall windows? my old laptop is running slow but it has nothing apart from windows 8 on it which will fit easily onto a 128gb ssd I'd imagine so can I clone it straight across or would I have to do anything to the files to make it work properly?

I had trouble trying to clone my Win7 netbook onto a hybrid SSD/HDD, so I would check.

Hot deal! Bought two - would be rude not to ...
Crucial site very slow at the moment but working, so be patient or you'll buy several by mistake

I've looked through lots of articles/videos and it seems too simple, everything I seem to do with computers is overly complicated but this just seems a case of using a program to clone/migrate the operating system then switching out the drives which for me being not really computer literate is a fairly straight forward process, maybe if someone has done it before and succeeded they can help us and let us know if it's that simple or whether there is more to it?

Ordered 256gb, cheers
