Depending on your taste, have enjoyed P & O, great time, welcoming., Princes, very smart - a touch of class,. RC free for all, a touch of chav. They all represent great value , super entertainment, you make your own choice.

The food in the formal dining area on Thomson is very good, easily on par with RC. The drinks on Thomson are all inc and all tips are inc so much what you pay for the holiday is all it's going to cost you.
RC isn't the same and that's my point, you may get a little credit for drink but that's soon gone and if you enjoy a day in the sun when at sea enjoying cocktails brought to your deck chair by the bar staff it'll cost nothing on Thomson but it will on RC. Enjoy and keep missing out.

It is £649.00 per person (minimum of 2).

How much is food? All inclusive options or pay per day etc?

All food (and it's usually very good on cruises) is included in the price, as is tea, coffee and squash drinks.
For alcoholic and other drinks, you can either pay as you go (actually, it will be added to your cabin account which you settle at the end of the cruise) or pay a fixed amount per day (usually quite expensive - $50 to $100 per person depending on cruise line/ship) to upgrade to all-inclusive.
We're going on a Med cruise with Princess cruises in May, and we've decided to see how much we spend on drinks on the first full day and then decide if it's worth paying for the all-inclusive option for the rest of the week.

Not guessing, have been on a Thomson cruise and am going on another in … Not guessing, have been on a Thomson cruise and am going on another in June. My friends have been on both royal Caribbean, Thomson and some other cruise companies and provided that feedback as I was initially considering a royal Caribbean cruise before I booked my Thomson cruise. I like to enjoy myself, eat well, drink well so for me it would be far more costly on RC, if you have a sparrows appetite and don't drink much perhaps you can stay within reasonable budget but as I was talking about all inclusive my reference was pointing towards potential clientele with similar requirements as me, that have a good appetite and like a good drink!

Like I said - you're guessing - and have been incorrectly informed by the sound of it. You can eat all day on RC (if you're so inclined); in fact food is a major draw for any cruise line. Perhaps the difference is Thompson is McDonalds level whereas RC is decent restaurant quality? I considered a Thompson cruise once but then read the reviews and realised why they're so cheap. Maybe you were the drunken yob that fellow passengers were complaining about?

Hi

Sorry missed your response. I use Sippdeal as their charges seem low. Be aware you need 100 RCI shares for Royal Caribbean or Celebrity On Board Credit which will currently cost around £7800.

Don't worry about the travel agents being able to price this much lower than RCI,
Cruise lines sell at extra discounts through agents that package to hide the true discounts on the cruises to those that have paid more.

Tricky company Cruise Nation , be careful

Cruise nation have been amazing. Upfront with whats included and a stupid price..however i would not do an MSC cruise again..loud and rough Pontins on the sea at best...smoking by pools, food was ok. Entertainment was tedious as so many languages and not our taste at all. We had a fab time tho as found a place to enjoy our evenings on deck with a bottle of wine watching the surf..and lovely days in wonderful ports. The ship was clean and staff were polite and kind. If you are on a budget do it. If its a special special occasion Cunard to die for lol

I completed the feedback form and told them even if i won 1 of the free cruises I wouldn't take it. I was so disappointed in them. The food was always cold and bland. They didn't ensure the dress standards were followed in the buffet, which meant the passengers didn't use the hand sanitiser and they would come in with bare feet in swim suits oh and 1 girl decided to dry her hair at the table while we were eating. The passengers were rude and would have knocked you down to get to the front of the queue. The staff were very pleasant but were surprised if you said "please" or "thank you" to them as they weren't used to it from the passengers. I would not recommend MSC to anybody.

what's the point of going on a cruise in the winter

good for sightseeing as places are interesting and will not be busy over winter - weather could be an issue - not a sunbathing cruise thats for sure!

Cruise only £159pp hotels on the mainland can be found cheap and flights tend to be cheap in Nov(not checked).

costacruises.co.uk/gb/…tml

Nice price even with the extras, grats transfers and a bag.
depending on where the hotel is transfer on public could be very cheap.

weather pot luck been in Dec and it was fine, ports will not be too busy which is nice.
Summer is just too hot and places are packed.

A bit pricy for NCL,

cruise nation often don't include bags or transfers in the pricing..

Cruise only is £260 might be cheaper sorting out your own flights/hotel.

I did a 7-8 night Norway cruise from Liverpool with Cruise and Maritime, granted it was only an inside cabin but it was £299pp in June. Very often you see sub £400 cruises and October isn't a great time for Norway and the fjords.

I'm sorry but I'm finding it hard to see the deal value in this.
It's £83.17pp per day, this includes the Barcelona stay which I assume is self catering/room only.
I've booked a 12 night Thompsons cruise, all inclusive drinks & food, flights & tranfers for £62.17pp per day.

There is a problem comparing the headline prices of cruises from US websites and the UK websites.

The UK website includes all the charges (with the exception of the 'discretionary' service charge). The US websites don't include taxes, fees and port expenses (or the 'discretionary' service charge).

The $699 price you saw is for the non-assigned cabin and doesn't come with the free drinks package (i.e it is the £579 cabin).

The assigned cabin that does come with the drinks package and costs $899. However the $899 doesn't include the taxes and fees which are added on right at the end and bump the price up to $1,070.22.

Also, and this is a BIG issue, the drinks package on the UK website is really free (if you pay the extra £100 for the assigned cabin).

However for people booking through the American website they have to pay a "service charge" on the 'free' drinks (you know how the Americans love to tip), and this adds $156.42 onto the cost.

So the $899 is now $1,226.64, about £854 (and that doesn't include flights). So that makes the UK price of £679 with flights very cheap.

You are correct that Cruise Nation don't include bags and transfers, but having used them a few times for cruises, for the flight prices I have found what they charge for the flights is pretty much what I would have paid booking directly.

As for bags, you could get away with hand luggage only. This is an NCL cruise, so people dressed smartly will be wearing their least ripped jeans and a T shirt, it isn't Cunard.

Cozumel is a dump

Thanks for you in-depth review.

Cozumel is a dump

With things like this, one man's meat is another man's poison. For me, it's poison. I did a similar cruise many years back from Miami around the Caribbean for 5 or 6 days with Carnival cruise lines. Hated virtually every minute of it. Packed in like sardines to start. 2500 passengers and a 1000 crew. Unless you are wealthy the cabin is likely to be smaller than a prison cell.

You cant take booze onboard (except one bottle of wine per person). So captive audience in the bars, so guess what prices are like.... ;-) Also, you are issued with a Ship's 'credit card' to pay for everything, so it's difficult to keep track of spending. I did, and had an erroneous item placed on my bill which was hassle to get removed. If one were cynical, you might say this was deliberate.

Full of very loud American's, entertainment on deck consisted of things like 'Men's hairy chest competition'. Also, drinking age reduced from normal 21 years to 18. So lots of American teenagers on the sauce.

Call me snooty by all means. If you don't mind all that then you will enjoy.

Oh one positive if you like food: You will not go hungry. If I recall correctly, early risers breakfast, main breakfast, mid morning snacks, lunch, tea, dinner and midnight feast.

We have 2 cabins for the second one. (One balcony.for us and the kids for the inside cabin.) The first trip is without kids. Bliss. which is just as well as it's a 6* all inclusive. I couldn't justify the cost, but were making it for a special treat.

Good price for the package. We did the same in May this year and stayed in Mestre which is a 15 minute bus journey from the mainland into Venice itself. Mestre has a lot of good restaurants and bars if you want to eat there in the evening. If you drink more than about five alcoholic drinks on board per day, the inclusive package is worthwhile. Luggage was standard Jet2 rates. Transfers by taxi were very reasonable.

What immigration problem? The one the Daily Mail made up to keep people … What immigration problem? The one the Daily Mail made up to keep people like you dumb?

Dumb? In dumb language, for you to understand, times have changed and we ARE on the way out of the EU.

In 15 years we've had a near 9% population increase, with no equivalent rise in housing, health care, policing or schools. To say it will be a landslide vote is the understatement of the century, yet there are people like you with eyes wide shut believing otherwise.

There is an ever increasing amount of bitter, angry and affected young who feel utterly they have no hope of buying a home. Possessing less than their parents. Europe as an entity is now in the end game, the UK leaving is an absolute certainty.

I look forward to responding to any reply from you in about 3 years from now.

Also check if your transfers in Orlando and Barcelona are included. The Norweigan long haul flights do not normally include luggage or food/drinks so you would need to check this also. The drinks package that is included may have limits so only certain beers/wines and cocktails up to say $10 - over this you would have to buy your cocktails and beers/wines not included in the package.

Hidden fees? Not really hidden but there are the gratuities per day, around £8.50pp. When you get to port you might want to go off and do something, book yourself, ship excursions are expensive. Internet is mega expensive, as are supplies of 'stuff' if you run out. There is no laundry on NCL but they do have a mid cruise laundry offer. Alcohol costs a lot if you are not on the package and there are some cover charges to the premier restaurants and dining experiences (but we never paid for food or drink, we took cans of soft drinks on). The casinoncan cost if you get roped in, plus bowling if its on that ship. None of which you have to do, we didn't.

msc opera last year..the kids have to climb on your beds to get in their bunks..3/4 of the ship were seasick (no stabilising bars apparently) The kids club was fab entertainment hit and miss.....read reviews before you book. It was cheap tho!

Cunard apparently do 4 in a room too ive just noticed on their site.

Does anyone have any experience of actually booking a cruise with CruiseNation?
You can't book online and when you dial 08000736487 you just go on permanent waiting.
I called at 18:10 last night and queued right up until 20:10.
Queued for an hour this morning and got cut off... eventually spoke to a guy who bumped the price up by adding booking fees and luggage supplements....

Heat added. We have kids though so not for us do you get such a thing as child friendly cheap cruises?

Did a Caribbean Carnival cruise for Christmas last year and they're fine. Not the best but far from the (Costa) worst. Would go on them again and this is a great price!

This is our first time going on a cruise ship, after checking we would probably take 3 excursions, 1 Pompeii, 1 Pisa + Florence and 1 Milan. However we do not know what we are going to do at the other ports and we can't take all the excursions because it works out quite expensive. We would be going through these ports:1. Sicily2. Salerno3. Cannes (France)4. Barcelona

For Barcelona, I suggest taking a cab who will take you around for 2-3 hours for less than 60-70 euros - u just need to haggle a bit.

Sicily i think- u can just walk around.
