good price but are the graphics any better than the first Crysis?

Don't get me wrong, the graphics in Crysis were good, i could only run them on ''high'' , not 'ultra high' but it was a bit of a let down. I don't think the graphics are REALLY REALLY that good, i just think people are fooled because the framerate is never high so things look like they lag...

I wasn't blown away by the graphics and considering people have 2-3 GPU's on SLI, i'd expect photo-realism which isn't really the case with crysis, i forced myself to like it (gameplay wasn't all that fun to be honest),

sorry to sound like a hater, i did vote this hott, but is it better than the original? graphically and gameplay wise?

I think Cod4 isn't much worse, Killzone 2 looks 10x better than Crysis IMO. Uncharted on the PS3 looks outstanding at times, especially when the character has just been in water.

All it is, considering how much hype was made about Crysis being such a great game graphically, i can't help but feel it's a resource-hog, similar to Norton Anti-virus and once you feed it resources, it wasn't really worth it...

edit: I forgot GT5 Prologue, Final Fantasy XIII ....and i've played the demo of FFXIII and it's absolutely glorious, in fact, i might go have a quick go now...

Yep I'd agree with gooddeals9 I recently purchased a new quad core PC with all the blingy bits to go with it.

Thought I'd try out Crysis having seen all the hype and I too was left feeling a little short changed to be honest.

Not the best looking game and certainly not the best playing game I've ever seen, so I probably wouldn't bother with this (for myself) I haven't voted either way just thought I'd put my 2 penneth in.

I liked the original Crysis. Even on my geriatric PC, the gameplay was nice enough. I suppose it all depends on your expectations... Paid about this much for it, and for the money, it was well worth it.
I didin't like it as much as the original FarCry but liked it much more than FC2.

...and I just bought this one. Thanks for the deal. Heat added (and tipped it over to HOT section).
Cool!
No wait..
Hot!

Was just about to buy 2nd hand for same money.. Ordered and Heat added.

Damm!! I just ordered this from amazon this time last week and received it today and it cost me £14.99,if only I had waited a few days

How can COD 4 be considered better? Granted it is far more linear, so the developers could put alot more scripted actions in, but the textures are seriously low quality.

Crysis with a few tweaks looks FANTASTIC, and runs very well on modern hardware (i7, 6gb ram, gtx 285 sli @1920x1200).

I don't know, i think COD4 looks fine. Crysis looks fine, but it's just a resource hog. You'd expect 10x better graphics for the price of hardware you need to run it.

Killzone 2 looks better and it's on a £290 console. My PC cost me around £500ish and Crysis doesn't look as good as Killzone 2

Plus the £1,000 hardware bill to play one game... no thanks i'll stick to games like Prototype on the 360 what a gorgeous game to look at that is in HD all in a console that cost less than my graphics card! LOL

Damn,.. too late! Price up to £17.95 now.. Should check this site more!

I have played the PS3 and the 360 and none of their games currently match Crysis Warhead at decent settings graphically. It is not to say they don't look pretty nice though but Crysis and Crysis Warhead just look better. Also the interactivity with the environment is fantastic as are the environmental effects. In addition most consoles actually upscale their output instead of rendering at the native resolution of an HD display.

I have an HD4830 and I can run Crysis Warhead with a mixture of enthusiast and gamer settings under DX9 at 1440x900 with only occasional slowdowns.COD4,GRAW2 and Bioshock run at maximum(or near maximum) settings at 1680x1050 and looks much better than the console versions too. The HD4830 until it was replaced was under £70 at many online retailers.

Of course people tend to forget a PC has more uses than a console and most modern PCs come with fast enough processors(above 2.5ghz) and enough RAM(above 2gb) to play most games well. All is needed is a decent enough graphics cards and there are plenty of those available for around £100 and under. Of course most PC games cost much less than a console too and tend to drop quicker in price too.

Example of a modern PC that can be used to play most modern games well for around £500:

Phenom II X3 720 ~ £92

ebuyer.com/pro…071

OCZ 600w PSU ~ £55

ebuyer.com/pro…861

4gb PC2-8500 RAM ~ £36

ebuyer.com/pro…818

Antec 300 case ~ £45

ebuyer.com/pro…854

HD4870 512mb ~ £97

ebuyer.com/pro…332

Gigabyte MA770-UD3 revision 2 ~ £56

scan.co.uk/Pro…ard

Samsung F1 320gb ~ £34

scan.co.uk/Pro…-ms

This is a single platter hard drive.

SATA DVD rewriter ~ £15 to £20

Postage is around £8 from Scan and there is free supersaver postage form Ebuyer. Also the Gigabyte 770 based motherboard has the SB710 southbridge with ACC. This means that you can try unlocking the X3 720 to a quad core and if you are into overclocking even 3.2ghz can be achieved fine even with the stock X3 720 cooler:

ixbtlabs.com/art…tml

The total comes to around £450 including postage. Vista Basic can be had for around £60 or Vista RC1 can be used for free until early next year.

Basically take away the graphics card, better PSU and slightly better motherboard and you are basically paying around an extra £120 to £130 over buying a basic PC with a decent 400w PSU and a motherboard with a decent IGP like the 8200/8300 or the 760G/780V/780G which cost between £45 to £60.

Crysis Warhead will run on enthusiast settings at 1680x1050 with this computer under DX9 and the original Crysis should be able to run on higher settings at 1680x1050 under DX9 until the last levels where you may need to drop the resolution a bit. DX10 is a joke TBH and rarely has any advantage over DX9(which games like Crysis can run in even with Vista). Crysis and Crysis Warehad look very similar under DX9 and DX10 IMHO. FarCry 2 is one of the few games which actually runs faster under DX10 and looks better when compared to DX9.

Buy an XBox 360 or Wii for around £160 and have the best of both worlds.
