Nice bike

I bought this bike last year n paid £690 for it so good price, down side to it are the pedals. I took it back to the shop for its first service and commented that the bearings in the pedals were making a clicking noise. They put a new set on but he said the pedals were crap and I should think about upgrading them. He said they put cheap pedals on to keep the price down and most people change them as they are a personal thing. Apart from that good bike I've rode it virtually every day over winter and its been fine. Looks really good in these colours too!!!

Cold. MTB.

Not really, but last couple of decent road bikes have had someone voting them down for not being an MTB.

My 12 old son had this for christmas, what a fantastic bike for the money i even enjoy the odd ride on it

had mine since last May, love it and i paid £690, so its great value at £499!

Even if you pay £4k for a carbon fibre bad boy, they'll supply cheap nasty peddles

My hubby paid over 2k for his mtb and i said to him where's the pedals? he said " you got to buy pedals separate" oO

Good price but be wary of this retailer for returns and warranties.

18' or 18" ? which is it ?

Great deal if it's the right size for you.

You ever take it off any sweet jumps?

aint it all about the 29ers these days?

There's too many different types of pedals around - no matter what pedals they put on they'd be wrong kind nine times out of ten and get changed straight away. The supplied pedals are just to get you home from the shop.

I don't ride or have much interest in bikes (without engines in them ), but that is a nice looking bit of kit!

I got you Mr dynamite (even if no one else did)

Seems fair enough to me, that kind of thing shouldn't really be encouraged

Where's the difference between 26er and 29er ? i personally don't like how 29ers look like .

Wheel size - 26" vs 29". Larger wheel size takes more effort to get moving initially but then in theory provides a better and more stable ride.

29ers are not for everyone....i'm happy with my 26er hardtail and full sus, when i demo'd one i struggled a bit with being a shortarse ^^
The lastest fad is 650b which is the most likely alternative to a 26er i would considering buying.
Back to this bike though.......not bad for the money as cube make some good bikes and if the size is right.

..and it's exactly this that puts me off buying a bike rather than walking to work.

If I buy a car, I expect the pedals to be up to scratch. Sure I may want some 'toys', but the basics of making the damn thing go (engine, gearbox, tyres... pedals) are standard.

Should have some proper forks for the price, entry level RS is not good enough for £500, especially not for £690.
New MTB prices a just ridiculous nowadays.. If you know what you looking for it's better to go second hand and / or build it up from used bits.

the reason for no pedals is that there are loads of different sorts of clipless systems. most people who are 'into' bikes will already own some special cycle shoes and will have bought into a particular system. there are loads , shimano spd, shimano spd-sl, look, time, wellgo etc etc. thats why you don't get pedals, as more often than not, it would be a waste of resources (e.g. plastic and metal). even when you buy bikes 2nd, you often don't get pedals, as the previous owner keeps their own, to match their shoes.

when you buy bikes 2nd hand, I meant

Obscene amount of bike for the money.

Forks could be better, but the rest of the spec is tough to find in this price range.

The sizes can be deceiving, check the geometry before buying.

Although im asuming similar geometry to my reaction gtc. I'm 5'10 with 32" inside leg. and have a 16" version. Perfect fit.

? You wont cycle to work because the bike you buy may require some better pedals that suit your style ?
That is the worst excuse I've ever heard.

Air forks, XT parts and Hollotech 2 crank makes this so worth the extra £100

That should read *especially* if you pay £4k, you'll get cheap nasty peddles...

RRP on mine was above that, but it still came with the cheapest, nastiest set of pedals that would have made you feel like you'd been ripped off even if you'd bought them in PoundStretcher

I got the same response. She thought it hilarious that it came with no pedals.
