This is a pretty good deal IMO. I priced up an almost identical spec DIY build to compare at Scan (used a better case/PSU and omitted Windows and a DVD RW) and it worked out at £205. Even if I put in a junk case/PSU and Windows 8.1 I think it would be over £200

It uses the newer AM1 chipset, and it has the highest spec AM1 CPU which has very low power consumption. Ideal as a HTPC/General use PC... and will handle non-overly intensive games at lower settings.

It's the same price on their eBay BTW for those with vouchers

I bought a Raspberry Pi B+ for £25 last week and it came preloaded with Minecraft Pi

Ideal!

any good for steam streaming?

Good price. Heat,

An alternative for a dedicated Minecraft box is this

The processor is overpowered for video play but under power for gaming. Better put money on a decent NUC or just a simple and cheap Android TV box. It will make the kids happy.

Good deal including windows for the price. but very far from 'ideal ' for minecraft.

40 FPS average at 1080p sounds good enough to me!

Here's a vid of a guy trying it out, playing a few games on it:

Looking for a home media server, to handle video streaming via Plex, dls and general NAS duties. Any thoughts on how this would stand up to the job? I was looking into the amd 6300 for video processing, editing, transcoding tasks, not to sure about the 5350

230 here with dedicated r7 240 graphic card
box.co.uk/Cub…tml

The r7 240 card retails at around 40 and provides okay performances on most games making sure settings are low to medium I would recommend this for extra 30

a good balance of power for the money. Heat added!

Can the graphics card be changed on this?

Would've thought it'd be fine. My Laptop has less grunt than this and manages it pretty flawlessly.

If that is the PC in question (though I believe the deal posted here is the one without a dedicated graphics card) there is room to add a single slot Graphics card, however considering the amount of space given to you, you'd have to shop around to find the right card. You don't see single slot cards that often.

Warning.... case is as rough as a badger's ar$e.

Also thinking of this as a plex box?

I'd have one of these for the bedroom but need optical out. Shame.

Handy for sticking by the tv.

You could get a single slot 750ti or buy a flexi pci-e riser and mod a dual slot card above the mobo. Will give reasonable performance. Ryan over at PCPer tested the combo out. HERE

I know the countryside can be very lonely (and cold) but, I'm a city boy, so I need a frame of reference to which I can relate. Not judging...

I don't think it looks too bad in the video I posted. That blue LED would definitely need unplugging though! oO

HI I'm looking for a gaming pc for my 11 yr old son, mainly for minecraft - would this fit the bill (our current computer is 'lagging' apparently !). Many thanks.

Not bad for the money, the 300W PSU seems like overkill for a 25W APU though.

A matter of opinion, I think a bit more processor and a fair bit more graphics power.

You should report Brian May to the RSPCA if he's been up to his old tricks again.

It's by no means a 'gaming PC, but it will handle Minecraf.... however it might be wiser to spend the extra £20 on the version with the graphics card - which isn't great either but will be better than the CPU graphics:

The non-cube one is cheaper for some reason (EDIT: It's because there's no OS included - thanks irajth!):

Nope, it's really meant as a low end home pc/office pc/HTPC. The CPU isn't designed to excel in encoding, etc.

You'd probably be more suited to this:

Obviously an i5 would be better, but then that's another £110:

Faster than a celeron?

Depends on the Celeron. Right now there are two types of Celeron, those based on the Haswell architecture (standard big core typical PC style), and those based on the Bay Trail architecture which are like an updated Atom core, which used to be used in netbooks. Most of the £200 Microsoft Windows laptops you will see will be these 'Atom' based Celerons (typically quad core - because each individual core is so slow - comparatively). The Kabini is kind of like these. It's AMD's low power (small, cheap) core. Probably a bit better, but really it's all much of a muchness.

Then there are the Haswell based Celerons which are pretty much just a core i3 without hyperthreading. You will find this type of Celeron in an Acer C720 Chromebook... which rocks!

for gaming the box comes in bigger to house a big dedicated graphics card(s), you need to look at the box first. And you need to spot the £200 low price to notice it is too little money for a blow out on games.

Any good for a Plex home server/Steam in home streaming server?

Son wants a PC for playing Prison Architect and some gaming. However, as he plays Minecraft and most gaming on an Xbox 360 the main use for the PC will be for recording his gameplay via the Hauppage HD PVR 2, video editing it, and then for uploading to YouTube. Also, for editing and producing lego animations. Which of the suggestions on here, or an alternative, is most suitable? Budget is around £275. Thanks.

This be ok to run xbmc at 1080p ok?

These two combined would make a v good editing and a decent gaming PC. But you'd need to install the GPU (which is very simple):

ebay.co.uk/itm…ce6

ebay.co.uk/itm…ab7

Comes to £249.25.

This is a bargain as well, but it has basically zero gaming capabilities:

ebay.co.uk/itm…c9f

EDIT: And just realised it has no HDMI so I think that makes it a no go with the PVR...
