Great spec for the price. Picked one up myself. A lot of the weight is in the fat tyres. I wasn't keen on the brakes so replaced them with some SLX M7000s that I got on sale.

29er is 700C wheels, you just need to swap the tyres, just as I have done with my own.

Out of interest why 700c and not 29?. Pretty much the same apart from 29er will fit wider rubber so is slightly heavier?. Well that was my understanding but very happy to learn otherwise.

Indeed, with a 29er you have the option of running 700c road tyres for commuting and fat tyres in winter/for proper MTB.
Shame about frame size.
Would of 100% gone for this if they have bigger sizes.
Thanks but for me personally I would 100% want a 29er. (Currently ride a Trek DS 8.4 but being 700c its limited to 38c tier width which is fast but can suck on the wet South Downs but still love the speed of a 700c/29er). My other bike is a CAADX which is very fast off road. I feel the slow down would be to much on a 27.5.

I know, I'm the same, got my first 29er back in 2007 and love the option to by able to "hybridise" when needed for commuting as well. I've got 3 29ers in my garage in various states of repair
I bought this exact bike from them this week. Love it. The 29" wheels feel great on the road and although I've only done couple of miles on grass due to the soggy ground the grip was decent from the tyres. The gear shifting is so smooth, as is the derailing between the two cogs at the pedal end of the chain. Thoroughly recommend anyone who's hesitating on buying this bike to just go ahead, its quite a well specked bike for £630.

I am 5'-9" with an inside leg of 29" and the 17" frame that I selected is perfect for me.

The only negative I can find is the paint finish feels like power-coating to me rather than a lacquered finished so I'm unsure of its ability to withstand knocks and scratches, maybe someone on here can comment on this as I would be interested in finding out more on this.

Get some helicopter tape and protect the frame at its vulnerable places

No worries, don’t go for cheap stuff, will turn yellow over time. Best way to put on is use a spray bottle, warm water and a drop of washing up liquid. Spray frame and tape (just a light covering) smooth air bubbles out and let it dry

Indeed, mine already has a few marks in the matte grey paint.
Use bittish cycling discount for 10% off the price too
It's good price. Bike is a bit on heavy side and personally prefer 27.5 inch wheels. Can get a decent Scott for a tiny bit more.
I’m trying to not spend too much on a bike I’ve bought 3 in the last 10 years used each one about twice and sold it for half price was going to buy a cheap gumtree newish one. Halfords top boardman £999 for £500-600 or this ?
29er with rockshocks 13 kg
Colours on this are some of the best
I own the 2016 version of this bike and it’s absolutely spot on, I paid full price (through cycle2work) and was chuffed with the deal I had and the kit included, at this price it’s an absolute bargain!

I got mine at this £629.99 price on cyclescheme too, über über bargain, which is one of the reasons I have three 29ers in the garage! Hopefully after some repairs they'll keep me going for the next ten years (provided a bus doesn't see that I don't)!

I'd say you're answering your own question there, if you're not sure it's for you and you've not stuck with it in the past I'd be looking to get a cheap second hand one so you're not losing out so much if you decide not to continue with it.

I had no idea where to start with mountain biking so I picked up a decent second hand hardtail, rode that for a year and got really into mountain biking then had a better idea what I wanted from a bike.
I got this two months ago for £599. I simply asked what the best price was on it after spending 15 minutes with one of the sales guys looking at different bikes. Got rear mud guard, water bottle and holder thrown in free plus a free tune up which is due soon.

I had no idea that the 29 and 700c were the same - I have always had 700c and like to run 25s as I only cycle on roads and paths for my commute, I am not worried about weight so the extra does not bother me, I suppose I occasionally cycle of road with the kids
thanks for the knowlage
Thanks OP, this is exactly what I was looking for! Perfect sizing, decent spec for the price, and love the colour. Managed to snatch the last one, sorry (not sorry ).

At that price I’d want a 700cc engine on it!

Good luck to anyone who places an order.

Ordered the Cube Attention and had my order cancelled (not a payment issue, they dispatched another order placed at the same time, and money was taken from my account and has now been returned) and the bike's still listed as being available now.
And no phone customer service on Mondays (Tues-Fri only...)

Well, ignorance or not wanting to know comes into play with Cube bikes. I have had a spin on my neighbour's Cube MB but he gets an allowance for bikes so picks what he likes best. We got talking and I didn't even know Cube was German.
Although that is not strictly correct.
He told me that 'the bikes are actually manufactured in Taiwan and then assembled in Germany.'
If that's true it doesn't surprise me, so not German at all. China rules big time now.
