I had a Cubot P9 many years ago and that had inbuilt malware from the factory plus that particular phone never once got any updates whether monthly security updates or OS yearly updates, I don't know whether this has changed in the years since.

Never used it, got good reviews, processor is a good stand out at this price. Wide angle camera and 128GB Storage. Maybe won't beat your average xiaomi, but not everyone wants to go the Xiaomi way (or my way I should have said)
I do know they have been going a decent amount of time but i do worry about how good these smaller Chinese manufacturers are with updates. Anyone any hands-on experience? reason I ask is that one of my extended family (rocking a Xiaomi obvs lol) is due her annual new phone and asked me what i thought of Cubot. I said I knew about them and their decent track record but would be surprised if they supported their phones like Xiaomi does with theirs (she's currently rocking a Mi A2!). I'll feel guilty if this info is wrong...(funnily enough the antutu of this is identical to the Mi A2 at 135k)

I'm sure someone will answer, I personally don't know and would be interested in finding out how they are now.

I remember posting cubot a couple years ago with some comme ts relaying to no updates etc.
Decent scores on trustpilot but maybe I'm being too sceptical but some of those reviews look dodgy for UK trustpilot.

My second real smartphone was a cubot. Solid.

Mine was an X6 and eventually had a malware problem. But this was many years ago. Would buy new one for the build quality but I have a Xiaomi redmi note 6 pro that I'm buzzing off atm

I have the Cubot p30 I got on Amazon.
Pros
- Great battery life
- decent screen quality
- fast for the price (4GB ram)
- Good aesthetics
- Case and screen protector provided
-Stock Android 9.0
Neg
- Android patch 5 Aug 2019
- Camera is not that great
- Tiny sound from speakers

So that’s my experience with Cubot P30.

Had a cubot dinosaur a couple of years back but after reading various reports on the malware issues with many Chinese phones I found that cubot had it built in so I sold it , it wasn't a bad phone just didn't trust it after that , I'd just say research wether they still have these issues ?? If they don't seems a good deal ...not voted either way
Buy this cheap phone. Bury it three feet under in the garden. Wait for the nuclear electro-magnetic pulse to pass. Dig it up. Log on to Facebook.
There's always custom rom installation guides on t'internet. Gets rid of most unwanted software and improves performance. Wouldn't buy it otherwise
The x-19 is a quality phone. Would definitely buy another. Less than £100 delivered at Laptops Direct.

Brilliant value. The x - 20 i assume is better somehow, but there's nothing I need that the x 19 hasn't got.

Even comes with a case and screen protector already fitted.

In a word or 2 - non existent. You'll likely never see any updates or security patches. There's no way I'd ever spend £100+ on a Cubot or such like phone. I had one of their phones a number of years back for £60 odd and it was ok as a throwaway phone but it started spamming me with ad's. The software is also glitchy.

With phones by reputable Chinese brands like Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo so cheap you'd be a fool to spend your money on this.

Better?
Its actually got a RN8 chin now
Had several cubots in the last 6-7 years. Always good specs for the price but I only paid £60-£80 for each which makes them basically disposable. 3 of them have gone with cracked screens (my fault). Cameras in all of them have been rubbish. 2 of them had in built malware that only appeared obviously after around 6 months, connected to various unpleasant sites and it was impossible to remove despite a lot of effort. One of the cubots died completely when doing an OTA update. Potentially OK for a cheap phone but I wouldn't buy Cubots at prices where more reputable brands are available.

First Mr Switch deal I have voted cold on. Once bitten twice shy. Had a Rainbow 2 that manifested malware after a couple of months, no custom ROMs available to clear it, only the official manufacturers which was infected.

Fair enough! I just saw it as a decent spec phone, cheers
I purchased a Cubot Max just over a couple of years ago for £80 but only used it as my primary phone for 5 months. It does have adups.fota malware (see image below) but nothing untoward has ever occurred. The main reason I had to replace it was due to the Bluetooth headphones' poor connection, a result of having so many apps on my phone.
This is the main problem I've found with the "lesser" Chinese brands. If you have lots of apps on them, they crawl to a standstill and the battery drains really fast (at least the Cubot Max has a replaceable battery but I was going through 3 a day).
Now I've got a Redmi Note 5 (thanks to the HUKD contributors singing Xiaomi's praises) and it hardly ever plays up, even with over 250 apps, as well as being connected to a Bluetooth watch.

39586950-A2pZF.jpg
Had 2 cubots in the past, both initially excellent then both developed similar software issues within 6 months.
Customer service was non existent, wanted me to ship both to a service centre in Poland at my cost to diagnose to problem.
Laptops direct didn't want to know either.

Camera is good, not as good as the note 10 plus in everyday situations, still a very good camera for £250.

We still long for a flagship for no other reason than bragging rights

As long it's decent that's fine. The reason why I want to be 5G enabled just to be "future" proof. It will be a phone I have to use in the next 12+ months. The Note 10+ might have to go bk.

That's your problem - you keep on posting 'deals' for items that you know nothing about. The doctored ROM on this is pure junk and riddled with adware. Camera is terrible too. Stick to Xiaomi if you have a budget phone - as least they're reliable.
