May I ask did he book with the cruise line directly? Or with travel agent? £50ish a night on a cruise just seems to good to be true! I am very interested to hear more details! Thanks

Cunard is what I would call a more traditional cruise experience ... everything just that little more upmarket. Nothing wrong with P&O and probably better for younger travellers

If you take the organised tour with the cruise company you don't need a visa

You are right, you are looking at £200 plus for a two day tour depending who you book with. I was in St Petersburg at the end of May as part of a cruise and you have to do this. There is no way you could do this by yourself and trying to get around all the places of interest in the time that you have there.

I just meant all-in isn't all in as some peeps might assume it includes it is all. I tend to tip the staff that have provided decent service anywhere really, so will make a note it's not like that in most cruise ships and give them a chance.

I was tempted to pull the trigger on this, but then my other half said "just imagine the smell of pee onboard" ...it was hard to argue, indeed I asked my local butcher "do you keep dripping", he replied "No sir,not since Ihad it fixed"...I see my uroligist next Pissday.

No pressure to pay tips if you don’t want. Cunard is a whole different ball game than the tales I’ve heard of ‘here-we-go’ all inclusive cruise ships. Cunard every time for me, thanks ... and I’m in an inside cabin for a full 28 days (14+ at sea) in sept/Oct. can’t wait.

We do bring 4 litres onboard when cruising with P&O keeps the bar bill down . Don’t drink at home and probably only ever over indulge drinking when we are on holidays . We love cruising but enjoy a true real 5 star all inclusive resort .

Speaking from experience..........no pressure to pay the tip if you don't wish to.

Is there a run on Cunard Cruises at the minute ?. This and the 24 night December cruise are ok pricewise. Food will be fantastic, some nice ports of call and I would imagine the Queen Elisabeth is stunning.. Still way overpriced for me though. A 12 night cruise to the Canaries in December with P&O for just £712 is far more reasonable. https://www.iglucruise.com/oceana/3-december-2018_c139346 Their drinks prices are similar to pub prices and you can take onboard a bottle of spirits or wine per person. Just did a cruise on the Queen Mary 2 and everything was on the pricey side (didnt dare have an alcoholic drink). Shopping Mall certainly comes to mind plus the awful gaming machines in the casino. A bit overdone on Cunard I think. I still think that cruises are fantastic stress free holidays (Ive been all over the world by plane, train and coach and all I can remember is the stresssssssss). Virtually zero stress on a cruise and fantastic for kids . I was also really pleased to see how geared up ships are for disabled passengers of any age or disability.

19 nights on a floating shopping mall with high speed controlled "trips" ashore. No thanks. Butlins for posers.

Food, yes, alcohol, no.

I'd rather explore different sights and cultures rather than just do things i can do at home but if everyone was the same then the world would be a boring place :)

mgowans

We took a transatlantic cruise in January this year. I'd never cruised before. Met a chap at breakfast one day who made the comment that "only a boring person would find a cruise boring". 12 days at sea? Depends on the individual I guess, but there's plenty to keep occupied. Gym, shows, talks, pools, activity groups - easy to be bored if you let yourself be bored. Plenty to keep entertained otherwise.

deleted889460

Double the cruise cost for a single person. You can get cheaper flights from Norweigian if you are prepared to travel to Oslo or Copenhagen first for a one way flight to Fort Lauderdale. Probably come out as £300 per flight.

Ajibee

Peace, quiet and fresh air in a smart floating hotel with food and drink laid on - a nice way to get away from it all, and, if you have the time, a far more civilised way to travel than post 9/11 economy class in the air, with no sunburnt sangria louts in sight!

12 days at seas seems a bit dull. I can understand cruises that take in cities and/or islands but can't really see the appeal in this.

I can't find this Cunard-direct cruise listed elsewhere. I did find a post for the cruise via Iglu but this is direct with Cunard (which is always better in my opinion) and I've also listed the other offer for the Moroccan cruise which is a great deal.
