Cuphead is a classic run and gun action game heavily focused on boss battles. Inspired by cartoons of the 1930s, the visuals and audio are painstakingly created with the same techniques of the era: traditional hand drawn cel animation, watercolour backgrounds, and original jazz recordings.

Because it plays so well. It's simple to play but challenging to get through. The art style is very well done and the whole aesthetic is unlike most modern games.

Please list some of those painfully generic games that it is like so that I can enjoy them too.
I am going to get this for the switch but needs a bigger price drop for me. Even on standard console or PC it hasn’t gone low enough for me to bite Heat mate

Awesome game! Offline Co-op with a friend is a blast, very addictive especially when you die on the last segment of the boss stages & you've finally figured out its pattern

Bought it last time it was reduced... still haven't played it.
When are we going to get a physical release
I'm crap at games and no plans to invest lots of time I getting good, should I still buy this?
I think I'll like it, but expect it will be too hard for me to see all of it.

I would definitely double dip... There’s an expansion launching next year, hopefully when it’s ready they will consider making a physical version available. This is a fantastic game!

It's tough and takes time to practice the timings to get through the levels. Levels are very short, like 1-3 minutes, but mastering them takes time. It's quick to reloud and start again, but it could be very frustrating if you do not have the patience.
Damn, I bought this full price this morning! I think the eshop has a no refunds policy?

Not the fella you were chatting with, but thought Id offer a few! (BTW I like cuphead but I do think the gameplay is a bit generic)

Contra is most obvious parallel.
I would offer Metal Slug also as a brilliant side scroller
Megaman (normal and X series)
If you like sidescrollers in general Super Castlevania 4 and games like Dead Cells are great.
For a final shooter, I would say Gunstar Heroes is brilliant.

Would wholeheartedly recommend all of them!

I think you get one refund per account, unofficially.

I agree it’s overrated but my god it’s effing hard as nails. Not even a fair challenge imo. Maybe I’m getting soft in my old age.
Whats the sequel going to be? Bowlbum?
Heat for the deal and love the visual style of this game. Just hate the game itself. Far too hard and shame there isn't a easy mode, where you can just enjoy it. Then leave the hard settings for the hardcore lot. At my age, can't be doing with the stress of dieing to a stupid bird!

This is an absolutely brilliant game, it’s addictive and really hard

Same here, heat given from me but game not for me. Is makes me think and reminds me of 1950's Disney (or whenever it was they started) and that is cool...

For sure
Love the graphics (and it's on my watch list) but I'm terrified of what this game would do to my mental state.
This is one of the hardest and most stunning games I have ever played.

Yeah i bought it last time it was on sale.

The game looks gorgeous but it’s bloody difficult imo. A shame there isn’t an easy mode so i can at least explore past the first 2 stages!

Haven’t played for several weeks, as i like to get enjoyment out of my games not frustration lol

No other entertainment media restricts you from seeing all of it. Imagine if a dvd stopped after 20mins and only let you see the rest of the film if you answered a quiz on the story so far
Hope this comes to Game Pass
The most frustrating game ever created.
Amazing game so challenging though

Definitely don't get it. It's cumbersome, frustratingly difficult and just very very annoying.

Thanks. Really helpful.
It’s not that tough once you figure out the tricks per boss fight. If you’re stuck follow some YouTube guidance about where to position yourself etc. Don’t get me wrong it’s still tough but very satisfying once you progress.
When did this come out on Switch? I remember the makers saying "this will never ever ever ever comeout on any other platform".

Its really bloody hard.
Bought this a month or so ago - ridiculously frustrating in places, yet very difficult to put down.
Unless you throw your Switch out of the window, (not recommended, but likely).
Addictive and great fun.
Heat! I bought this. First time playing it. It's so difficult! Maybe im just rubbish at games
