Now that 12 months are up for my Nationwide 5% the Clydesdale has the Current Account Direct.

The bank account that gives you 3.83% AER interest for being in credit. Fixed until March 2015.

3.83% AER Interest on your credit balances up to £3,000
fixed until March 2015, reverting to 2% AER variable. A minimum monthly credit of £1,000 (excluding internal transfers) is required.
Competitive overdraft rate.
Easy self service access by phone, internet and mobile.
Easy to switch.

Qualifying Criteria
You must register for automated telephone and/or internet banking services to operate your account. You can still use our call centre or visit a branch if a transaction or service cannot be done through our self service channels.
Minimum monthly credit of £1,000 required (excluding internal transfers).
You can have a maximum of two Current Account Direct accounts, of which only one may be a sole account.

I believe Yorkshire bank offer the same deal. Unfortunately you cannot have a Clydesdale and a Yorkshire account as they are part of the same banking group.
Santander 123 better deal if you have loads of direct debits . 3% on up to 20k
Santander 123 3% interest only kicks in if you have a balance of over £3k.
So this 4% Clydesdale deal is better if you have upto £3k

Yes quite annoying that, I was going to get one of each and couldn't see that mentioned in the terms and conditions but that's what they told me when I tried to also open a Clydesdale account.

Yes the 4% rate is fixed until March 2015 then changes to 2% apparently, as there is less than a year to go until March 2015 the annual equivalent rate (AER) figure will drop monthly hence the change on their website.
