So, I posted a deal the other day and it became artic-cold! So I'm after either a new or refurb laptop with the following and wondered if this is suitable.
------------------------------------------------------------------

Any suggestions/links would be perfect for the following requirements as I'm really struggling. (It can't be from overseas as need it as soon as poss).

- New or Refurb
- 14" Screen preferable
- Lightweight and relatively slim essential
- CPU with benchmark > 2000
- HDD Space is not so important 240GB would do
- RAM > 4GB
- Price preferably less than £350
- 12 month warranty
- If refurb high grade (A)

Thanks all and hope this is a pretty good deal? (I haven't bought this one so will gauge responses on here

Winter is coming.
Decent specs, only let down is the screen. Best go and see it before you buy.
Such a shame it's not 1080p
Non 1080p screen and 4gb Ram....

Not a great deal.

I think you're overestimating the requirements of the target market...

For £500 id be expecting at least 8gb RAM. 4GB barely cuts it anymore unless you only have 2 tabs open at once.
I suppose you pay for what you get, but for the technical person, i3, 4GB RAM with 128GB SSD and a non 1080p screen, the only appeal would be if it was in your budget, I would recommend spending an extra £100 or more if you have it and getting something a bit more future proof, but for that price, it's an good deal I would say
Did lots of research for a laptop for my daughter who has just started college. This kept coming up as a good choice and was the machine recommended by the IT team leader at work as great value for the money so I bought it this evening. Of course, she wanted the one in white!

Ok...

1: You would expect that, most people with a budget of £400 (not £500, to clarify) wouldn't.
2: I currently have 14 tabs open. My biggest tab is Facebook, sitting at 900MB. The total memory usage of these 14 tabs is 1.2GB, hardly enormous amounts of memory considering how many tabs people typically have open. As you say, heavier users will know this isn't suitable for them.
3: This thing absolutely flies along and is perfect for a combination of browsing, video streaming, Office products and general day to day computing. How do I know? Because I bought this exact device with a friend two days ago.
yea people who have a budget of £400 are obviously just looking for a fast day to day laptop that will do the job, sometimes I feel that people often get cought up on wanting the best, when in fact a laptop with less spec will do them fine, I know I do that all the time.

Got 4gb on my lenovo and it's fine with 30 tabs. Crashes around 31... Lol. Got the full HD version from John Lewis for same price though. And 3 year warranty. Battery life is appalling though (2.5 hrs)

I picked up a Lenovo laptop deal on HUKD recently - the Ideapad 110 on offer from £399 down to £199 about a month ago from Curry's. Johns lewis price matched so got it from them. I only got it for my elderly mother for emails, mahjong, the latest KimJong news, cute cat videos, and purchasing useless crap on eBay. It turned out to be a nasty cheap looking plastic design, and the performance was very poor. Had to send it back as mum wasn't happy with it at all.
