This is on currys site and wasn't aware of it.

Currys will now price match AMAZON.CO.UK and the other retailers below.

This is for the XMAS period but it does not show an end date.

I know some dont like shopping there but for those of us with corporate discount vouchers etc etc where we can get another 8% off, then this is a good deal.

The other benefit is that you can collect goods immediately.

Tesco
Sainsbury's

Amazon customer service and return terms beats Currys x1000. Would pay slightly more just to buy from Amazon.

I went into a PC World a couple of weeks ago. "I'm looking for a Hewlett Packard laptop" "a what??" "Hewlett Packard. HP?" (shakes her head) "never heard of that one.. " and that's just a small part of my PC World experience.

Out of interest, why?

So many reasons:

- They're not actually that cheap, most of their decent offers are just price matching and I think they've somehow convinced people they are cheap so a lot just stick with Amazon rather than shopping around, lets see how cheap they are once they've eliminated a lot of the competition.
- More and more prime exclusives deals or only available to prime customers, so you have to pay a membership if you want to shop with them.
- Returns policy is decent but no better than I've had from other retailers such as Argos in the past
- Poor shopping experience, have to spend time working out what is coming from a 3rd party and what isn't, and even when its all from Amazon it doesn't seem to come together. I ordered 8 items some months back and each item arrived seperately.
- Awful customer service, lots of scripted and unhelpful replies

And yeah, I'm gonna chuck these in there even though I know some people don't seem to care about how a company they shop with behaves:
- Treat their staff and delivery drivers like absolute **** and use zero hours contracts extensively
- Don't pay their fair share of tax (yes yes, not breaking the law blah blah blah, but its still morally wrong)

Amazon should be 20% less than Currys given that they think its ok to skip corporation tax.. No wonder they can afford to have better customer service..

I did not know that. Thanks for letting me know. Amazing offer

Very good offer. Well spotted OP.

Nice spot @fiestasteve44 Thank you

excellent thanks

Sloth/Mod

even up to 7 days after purchase - Worth checking around if you've purchased at Currys for the next week after then

hmmm, appears that they've dropped the 10% off the price difference.

Like you say, only a good offer if you want the goods immediately and you have corporate discount voucher.

Unless PC World have started selling Aquariums and Dog food I don't know what exactly the overlap of goods would be!

wow what a GLITCH, hope nobody calls to check if its for real!

Saw this yesterday and assumed it was common knowledge. I'm sure they did this last Christmas too.

1000% agree with you I would never shop from currys even if they give it for free

They should be selling rice and currys not electrical appliances the customer service is worst than Talk Talks Indian call centres.

They used to be on par with Argos before and tried matching Argos 16 day money back guarantee but weren’t successful, now they don’t give you refund if you buy a item then change your mind.

I once tried to buy a Dyson from Currys I told customer service advisor can I open it to check the Dyson instore then I would buy it, the man told me if I open it then I won’t get to give it back for a refund unless there is a problem. Then I decided not to buy it and and I gave it back on the spot and told them to shove the Dyson up their hole, since then I have never put my foot in currys ever again.

I am living happily ever after without currys.

how does this affects quidco/tcb tracking? if they overwrite the price then does it mean that the cashback get rejected or will get cashback based on the new price?

Someone please close down currys like they did with Dixons overpriced, incompetent and ignorant Retail PLC

Not from my experience with Amazon yesterday.
Answering a phone is not customer service, telling a customer to accept what has happened and cancel their prime membership if they are not happy is definately not what I expected to hear!!
I will be using alternatives to Amazon.

Rang up to do this with a microwave that was cheaper on AO last week, said they'd get back to me within 24 hours by email or phone, heard nothing. Ended up getting it from John Lewis for the same price anyway, wouldn't touch Currys unless completely unavoidable.

Amazon customer service is VERY variable. Twice we’ve had problems & the first monkey to pick up each time are useless but when you score their customer service 1/10 on the feedback email they send you, a manager will call you and fix it perfectly straight away. We now work on the basis this is standard procedure for them - 1) idiot doesn’t help, 2) idiot gets scored 1/10, 3) sensible person calls and fixes problem.

Amazon customer service is brutal at the moment. Must have drafted in loads of temp staff to deal with black Friday as they hardly have a word of English between them. But normally they are superb

do employees get discount on top of this?

I'm not so sure anymore. Amazon's customer service used to be great and was well known for it. But it's gone downhill massively in the last few years.

Their policies have changed - for example, if you bought anything from Amazon that then dropped in price, if you spoke to them on chat or by phone they would refund you the difference, no problem. They got rid of that policy a couple of years ago and flat out refuse to do it now.

Would you be able to get them to price match one of these companies then get the 10% family discount on top?

so u have never bought anything in currys in your life?

Wow. So this is a deal

It's a shame as I'd much prefer to support a UK company over a US one but with Currys it's not just about price. They need to completely re-evaluate their after sales support. Stop trying to squeeze every last dime out of us, 2yr warranty should be a standard across all their products (except consumables etc).

You buy something and it seems no matter what the problem it's always the consumers fault somehow. Currys: What you bought a game a few days ago and don't like it?? sorry we can't take it back now it's opened! But how else would I know if I would like it or not? Amazon return accepted

my point is that you are basing your comment on a few others experiences rather than your own.
On the face of it you voted hot (based on your own opinion) then state you shouldnt have done based on others?

yes it means you can get things cheaper in currys and you get to take the goods away knowing they have not been thrown around in the back of an amazon van. So it is a deal for people that use it.

A price match is all well and good until you try and use it. Have you been into one of their mega shops lately? They have no stock and turn you away.

It's unfortunate that retailers in the UK have to deal with parasites. I'm sure you'll agree, you seem like a decent sort of person.
