Yeah but you can install an SSD, but not a new screen

But what percentage of people need anything more than that?
I'm a teacher and it's crazy how much some parents spend on laptops just to be used in the way you described.
Some people I know spend almost a grand to do things you can accomplish on a Chromebook or cheap windows notebook.
If this helps someone save a few quid then it's a good deal.

Pretty decent, the 1080p screen definitely makes this a worthwhile purchase.

True but unlike Acer laptops, these are a nightmare to upgrade. I dont know about this specific one but thats just how HP laptops are built.

But there's no service door - have to remove the whole bottom of the laptop. And you cannot replace the DVD drive with an SSD (there's no DVD drive); but nice if you need FHD resolution.

The laptops good where else can you get a Ithree for that price

Not bad but not worth £549. Full HD screen is its star feature (cannot comment on the actual screen quality though). Suit those on a tight budget whose computing needs are pretty basic (surfing, social media viewing/streaming video, some office work and light gaming. I know several people with this sort of set up and after six months they do grumble about the sluggish response times which is mainly due to the modest cpu and lack of an SSD (solid state drive). OK at £349 but nothing to get too excited about. I'm feeling generous, so have some heat an78u75

Is this a good deal if the Mrs just does her accounts and a bit of web surfing on this?

Good for you. Sharing is caring . Voting is wrecking ..sometimes .

Best price I've seen for something like this, 256gb add is £60/70, well worth paying for that.

the other laptop offer from ebuyer was/is a better deal for another £100

Better deals on here for £100 with i5 7200 plus 8GB Ram plus 256gb SSD

rubbish deal especially for an i3 lol

COLD

I am looking for a laptop for my daughters Christmas gift(she is 11) she plays minecraft, robolox, watches YouTube etc. Would this be good for that? I know very little about laptops/pcs. It’s a bit over what I budgeted for and had thought on waiting until Black Friday to see what kind of deal I could get. Any advice greatly appreciated...I notice there is quite a few people on here that know there stuff with laptops etc xx

I wouldn't say it was a bargain, it's average IMO.

If anyone is interested in this, I would suggest waiting for more deals to come out on black friday.

Also, you can upgrade to an SSD however it's not "easy" to get to. It's quite fiddly.

tbf, he posted the deal which is the main bit

This is being sold on Facebook marketplace for 250 and the woman claims she bought it for 349 a few months ago so I presume the 549 price was up for a day sometime in the near past.

Good screen but it really needs 8GB.

I feel £350 is standard for an average spec i3 laptop...

Thats a lot of laptop for not a lot of money, perfect for everyday use.

I have an HP Probook 470 G2 upgrading Ram and installing an SSD was so easy, only 1 screw to access and 2x 4 screws for hard drive,

Needs 8GB and 128SSD, especially since HP laptops are difficult to upgrade.

Daughter had one like this, the build quality was poor and it lasted 16 months. I wouldn't expect an SSD drive for this money but it should be a min 8Gb RAM these days

As far as I'm aware, Minecraft show run fine on this laptop (I don't know about Roblox I'm afraid). The processor on this laptop is decent so it will do Youtube videos/browsing etc very well. I would say it is a good deal for your daughter. The only recommendation I have is to perhaps add 4GB more RAM like here, as 8gb RAM total is recommended for a lot of games. I know this may not seem like a good option for you (it's daunting adding hardware to a PC, I know!), but I've heard upgrading RAM on most laptops is pretty simple - there are lots of Youtube tutorials out there for this kind of stuff.

The probooks sometimes don't have any screws to remove the back, just a couple of tabs to push. Pavilion is a little more involved but not hard.

Why is it a 'rubbish deal especially for an i3'?

This is not the laptop for everybody, but can you please tell me where anyone could buy a 7th-Gen i3 laptop for less than £350?

I recently bought the i7-8550U version of this laptop. Upon receiving it, I was surprised how hard it was to replace the HDD with my SSD. After calling HP, I was further told that this would void the warranty as well. Still did it though.

Can't believe that the laptop with this spec was £549 in the first place.

The dell deals are always jolly good fun!!!!!

Thank you very much for the reply I might take a note of the details on this and look for one on Black Friday with more of the RAM. I know there is a shop nearby that upgrades pcs and laptops so I guess that could be an option too. Had hoped to keep it under £300 😫 xx

I see what you mean. 15 minutes, a broken screwdriver and not all the screws are yet out. No wonder the video is 45 minutes...
I have only attempted upgrades where there are access panels.

Very slow machine... unless I'm doing something wrong.

Theres already test cases in place that say PC's are inherently upgradeable therefore all this warranty voided stuff is garbage PROVIDING its clear that its not you nor the upgrade causing a failure
