CyberGhost 5 Premium Plus VPN (12 months) £13.04 @ Cyberghost

I wanted a VPN for security when mobile (especially when using open WiFi) and when at home to avoid the restrictions ISP are forced to place on their customers and happened across this stonking deal for what seems like a good service.

The Premium Plus option allows 5 devices and access to all of the VPN exit points for 12 months, normal price is £139.98, although it's on offer at £69.99 at present via the normal purchase link (http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/en_gb/buy).

There's a completely free service you can try, with a subset of the VPN exit points and a 3 hour maximum continuous connection time, for many people this might be all you need.

The service is based in Romania and does not keep logs and responds to requests for such user information stating there is no legal requirement for them to do so in Romania and therefore cannot provide it.

It allows torrents through most exit nodes, except for the Russian and US nodes.

I'm pleased with it, it's supported on Windows / Mac / Linux / Android and iOS.

Nigel Farage's favourite VPN service.

Great deal for this. Bought. Thanks OP!

Thanks OP.. Bought this too

Doesn't accept BitCoins - very likely CIA/NSA/MI6 operated.

Does this work for torrents?

I've been using the free version for a couple of weeks now. Seems good and easy to use.

Sounds pretty good, i'll have to check it out when i'm back home.

Sounds like this service is pretty highly rated Cyberghost Review

+1000 for being openVPN compatible. Thanks, OP!

EDIT: Just noticed that they are launching the Mac version tomorrow at 2pm (RO time=GMT+2) and the first ten purchasers get a year for free. plus.google.com/eve…eq8

Am I missing something? The title says 13.03 but the description says 69.99?

never heard of these guys! any good? do they log?

I use these as most people seem to recommend them:

privateinternetaccess.com/

How do they compare?

It's on offer at £69.99, but it's currently further reduced to £13.03.

This should go thermonuclear tbh

Compared to PIA this is trash, slightly cheaper but nowhere near as functional. Check out VPNdeals sub reddit for VPN discount including PIA.

Great price. Don't personally have any need for VPN privacy or security. This should be very good for watching/using UK based services like BBC iplayer when abroad.

Dont know if this falls under this but romania has laws governing the retention of data

Great link... bought it... they have an option to payby bit coins as well..

That's insanely cheap for 12 months if they're any good.

What sort of speeds are you getting from them?

I use AirVPN who I've been happy enough with. No logging, shared exit node IP's, good speeds and it's been pretty much 100% available since I've been using them.

But if you're gonna sign up for one of these, make sure you also check for DNS leaks. They tend to be the fault of Windows rather than the VPN but you may find you have a little extra fixing to do if you want to remain fully private. Ditto with torrents. You'll likely need to do a little jiggery pokery with ports to get them coming down through the VPN. You would assume that anyone signing up for such a service would be aware of things like this but no harm in flagging it up. ( ipleak.net/ - should give you a pretty good indication)

Heat for the price on this though.

I also use AirVPN, can't recommend them highly enough

Can you point me to the "trash" reviews? Comparisons:

PIA: £24/pa

PPTP, OpenVPN and L2TP/IPSec
5 devices simultaneously

No traffic logs

Cyberghost: £13 p/a

One big difference could be that cyberghost is a one off price. usually £140, PIA is always $39.95

Found a nice in depth review here bestvpn.com/blo…ew/

Although some of the info may not be 100% current.

+1 For Private Internet Access here. They are great!

can I use it on my playstation 4? I live abroad and usually use Vpn services (IBDNS) to watch Netflix and Hulu...

anyone knows?

Could be ideal to change isp on ebay - damn selling restrictions they keep enforcing

Can you buy 2 and use second activation key when the first account expires ?

PIA = US based.

No chance I'd trust a US company with my VPN, no matter how secure they claim to be. I'll stick with Air.

If you're able to flash your router's firmware with a CyberGhost version it may be possible. There is some talk about it here support.cyberghostvpn.com/ind…ter

Other easier option would be to buy a pre-flashed CyberGhost router from here:

They do (link at bottom of package page) but not for this particular offer.

To be fair, you don't know that. None of us know how much need we have for privacy or security. Your circumstances may change tomorrow. The information about you which is stored in databases all over the world will not.

I'd put it like this: people doing dodgy things may know that they DO need to use a VPN. But none of the rest of us know for sure that we DON'T.

When people say they don't need it, or that they have nothing to hide, what they usually just mean is that they don't care enough to make an effort, because they don't expect it to ever affect them again.

But the other day I was a bit under the weather and I did a search on some of my symptoms and then I just looked at what I'd typed in and thought... Man. I would not like anyone else to know that.

was going to go for PIA (private internet access) as they get cracking reviews, but this seems a very good price.

I know its a long shot but anyone used this on a OUYA?

that sounds difficult... at ibvpn.com you get IBDNS service which you configure the ps4 in 1 minute and walla, you're surfing anonymously..

This is really handy, even if you only want to watch US Netflix or use it to get round work internet restrictions. In short plenty of amazingly handy legal options, and of course added privacy to boot.

Absolute steal at this price. Incredible deal.

I've taken it up and I'm impressed with the speeds so far.

Could someone please explain how exactly to get this deal?

When I navigate to cyberghostvpn.com/en_…buy I can see it costs 44.99 euros??

Sh*t - oops..

Work isn't healthy when you're tired!

PIA is only recommended by shills on the VPN subreddit/review places. They took way to long to fix the issues after the Heartbleed announcement and their client is closed source. Please stop saying how great they are.

I can personally vouch for Mullvad being a great VPN.

Exactly, every time you search these things your privacy is being eroded and your digital footprint grows ever larger. It really **** me off when people say they have nothing to hide, as you said it's down to pure laziness and a lack of understanding.

Great VPN service. My friend and I took advantage of this deal not too long ago.

I tend to get very good speeds on the US servers, if anyone is interested in buying this to access US Netflix/Hulu etc.
Edited by: "CFC2011" 4th Jun 2014

Just buy a virtual private server for 3eur for 12months and do it yourself - much easier and a lot cheaper! Delete your own logs etc. Job done.
