looks good, but a shame its IR. Lost my RF ATI one when I moved house, gutted

Got one of these the other day for the receiver and it works fine with harmony 525.

Excellent find have couple of PC's with Windows XP Media Centre installed.

Never got around to buy a MS remote!

paid £10 from ebay last November and its still around that price on ebay, its a decent remote. It works the Media Centre and It even does all the basic functions on other programs like play/pause next previous etc in iTunes, Windows media player. I will say it does not work on VLC although I have not checked to see if you have to do something to get it to work but by default it does not.

I have one of these and would def reccommend and at this price its a steal i like the face u can launch media center with one button only drawback so far is it not owrking with the VLC player

works brilliantly with eventghost and as a result xbmc, tmt3, and powerdvd. only gripe is the power button is unassignable.

been 5.99 for donkeys years, so not a deal per se, but voted hot cos its a great product at a great price.

Have you tried GOM player?
gomlab.com/eng…tml
Plays everything AND is compatible with my Windows media buttons on my note book. It should also work with the remote control.

I have one of these and I have mapped the buttons to my Harmony 525, then using intelliremote I have assigned those buttons to do whatever I want the buttons to do (only thing I cant do with it is type letters and move the mouse).

I use it primarily with KM Player as I find it the best media player for avis and mkvs (it also works without having to install any other codecs, ie a clean install and just kmplayer on a pc will just play everything), but it also works fine with my powerdvd for Bluray and HDDVD playback.

Highly recommended.

This is only £5.75 on ebuyer and has been for years, you will need to factor in delivery though, or use it as a filler item.
Like others I am using it with my 525, girder and ZoomPlayer.Works fine and has a decent range.

This isn't a particularly good price. I think I picked mine up for 3 quid of fleebay. These receivers are pretty cheap.

As for the actual remote, yeah they are pretty good WHEN they are supported. The problem is they dont work in stuff like media player - though they do work in XBMC.

I'd say, if you're after one - 6 isn't bad but dont feel like you need to jump on it.

ps: Why do all posts get heat when they arn't a good deal?!

google mouse keys maybe

if that works then use on screen keyboard aswell ?

Nice deal, this remote will come in handy when using the DVI-HDMI connection to watch HD stuff. Good price! Thanks for posting.

Anyone got a list of working media players for this remote?

I use VLC and MPC mainly, any idea if these work with the remote?

Cheers.

I've not seen these as cheap (apart from eBuyer) as this and I also assume this is a retail box version too.

Thanks to the OP.

will this work with the vista media centre?

yes, i have this remote and use it with Vista 64

Did you guys know Play only provide a 30 day warranty on everything? Keep this in mind when buying expensive items. Still worth a pop at £6.

its not play who offer the warranty it s the manufacturer

for the ones that missed this you still can order they usually get it within the next 5 days or so if it takes longer you can cancel as they dont charge the card until they get the remote

In my experience not quite correct my friend.

I have 2 x 1Gb sticks of PNY Ram .. out of 4 .. these 2 failed .. blue screen .. memory dump etc.

Phoned Play.com last week regarding the faulty items which I purchased last November.

I was given an RA number and Play.com will replace or refund them on receipt.

I know PNY offer a limited 10 year gaurantee on their memory.

However the 10 year warranty period would have to be addressed with PNY directly I would imagine.

Like your going to have your PC after 10 years anyway! :whistling:

For interesting info reference 2 year warranty period regarding Humax products .. see my rant here 6 posts down ..

Reason I went for this is cos ever since I moved Bluray/HDVD to my PC base 100% I'm limted with the keyboard/mouse. For some reason the copyright idiots have limited what you can do with the keyboard/mouse. This'll solve it hopefully.

Are people saying if I buy a £1000 plasma it's only got a shop guarantee of 30 days? If Play.com are doing this they'll be out of business or would be as well to stop selling stuff over £5.

Thats exactly what people are saying, in fact i am almost sure its 28 days. The product still has its 1 year manufacturers guarantee and more often that not this is what you will have to use after the initial 28 day play guarantee on EXPENSIVE items.

Play are excellent at faulty returns for low value items (under £50) and most of the time they will except these back up to a year for repair or refund, but if a TV or other high value item goes wrong 5 weeks after you buy it they will make you deal directly with the manufacturer.

They can get away with this as they are not covered by the UK sale of goods act as they are based in Jersey.

i have one of these, abit temperamental, think i paid five something for it on ebuyer as a filler. Using it abit more recently as the remote for my hifi has gone (how i play music from pc) so controlling the sound via this.

I'm amazed that's Play's stance and it means I'll not buy anything electrical other that the usual tat under £10.

Manufuacturers' warranties are all very well within the UK or EU (although we do have our statutory rights of course). Problem with Play is they're not really part of the UK/EU when it comes to every day stuff like this and if they bought in goods from a non-EU country it may be difficult to even obtain help for that.

Buyer beware.

Got mine this morning. Very nice.

Not a retail box but still a bargain.

Thanks again to the OP.

Anyone know if this works with Gom Player or preferably Media Player Classic so that I can watch .mkvs without having to keep getting up to jab the keyboard?

Dont know how much it directly controls it - but you can use intelliremote to add any functions it doesnt control.
