Cycling has moved on a tad from 1985

indeed it has, maybe look up some of the tech you can get nowadays for internal hubs.... even the belt drives you can get now.... but to suggest this bike is perfect for winter is horse manure. You will have to clean you drive-train after every outing else it will 1) rust and or 2) wear down quicker. Also, you will get covered in crap off the road. It's not rocket science is it mate? Lovely bike, I'm sure, just don't go labelling it up a winter hack.

I'd suggest "Perfect for winter" would actually involve a bike with an internal hub gear and mudguards...

For the cycling enthusiast It's normally £300 but now under £100

£300? Please have a look here how £300 shoe look like : )
rapha.cc/gb/…ult

Shoes are always cheap if you have rather large or small feet.

More to the point there's no sensible sizes in stock

These are the prvious SLX variant and are (at this price) 50% of the current models RRP, very unlikely they sold many at £300.

If your spending near £100 consider a look at Decathlon's B'Twin 900 carbon shoes for £80.

Giro prolight SLX 2's are £200 on wiggle for context. These are the older model.

Yeah not convinced myself but if someone wants them this is about the cheapest place to get them. Had the orokr and orokr pro a few years ago, personally I found them really handy the only downside was the Bluetooth back then wasn't as good, kept cutting out. Battery life wasn't spectacular either but they fit well and sound was good

Wasted opportunity. They should have partnered up with Garmin and brought out a properly good Oakley Varia pair. Who wants to train to Oakleys half arsed voice activated proprietary system?

Some super casual?

It's a cynical cash grab. Shame, as there is loads of room here at the moment where Oakley could make themselves known before all the big players start to dominate.

Did you use the converter and loctite together or just loctite the bb30?

Just loctite the BB30- it stops the bearings moving around in the frame. Cannondale actually put out a technical bulletin explaining how. You use bearing fit compound not normal loctite blue.

Black though ...?! Surely you want bright if on the road?

Couldn't agree more. Been cycling for years and given you can get hi viz Orange and yellow which are brilliant during the day and much more visible at night, I don't see point in a black jacket, unless off road only and cold sunny days.

I'm alarmed by the number of people wearing dull jackets / cycle tops...Hi viz up or die!

Orange, Pink and Yellow is used all round the world on H&S hi viz gear in industry...not black. I used to see people in Edinburgh wear these in winter in the dark days and nights...terrible visibility. There's a very bright yellow jacket called illuminator or something like that...had an led which was crap gimmick but the 3m coupled with luminous yellow was very bright in day or night....black is daft...that's why train workers and marine industry and everyone wears hi viz.

I completely agree with you, I would have preferred anything other than this, that's probably why this color is left, but I cant afford to pay the £60/90 on a jacket for a 4 mile commute and i have decent front and back lights too, If they cant see me, then they need a visit to Specsavers!.
I have seen how reflective this jacket is and read some reviews on this, so it is still very good value, I have one from Aldi, which has been great to me, so not knocking it, but it has lasted me three winters and is at its end, so this should be a good upgrade.

Sadly this is not always the case and have had a few near misses so perhaps it really doesn't matter what colour you wear. At night the reflective strips are great and this one seems to have them in abundance.

You could dress up as a clown and some drivers wouldn't see you. Fom personal experience wearing bright colours make no difference and I think the research backs that. If the driver isn't paying attention then nothing is going to help. Good price but personally I think good lights are the best investment however even these are relatively ineffective at twilight.

Agreed, the RRP is approaching Castelli/Rapha levels and on the reviews I've seen that is a bit optimistic, but for about £30 this seems a good deal.

I picked one of these up last last year and wore it most of the winter. It's not bad at holding out the rain and it's surprisingly warm, so if you're looking for something to wear in the spring you may want to look elsewhere. That said, I guess it all depends on hard you work on your bike.
I also had to get a size larger than I would buy from other brands, which I find is usually the case with Altura clothing

You're right, but you tend to run people over when they're closest to you. Also, you're beams aren't pointing at cyclists on roundabouts, so imho, the more florescent the better.

I'd still prefer yellow though, especially on a dull day.

I know this perhaps sounds daft, I know there are reflective properties on this best, but isn't black perhaps a worse colour to wear at night?
