Not on my life would I let a Halfords 'professional' anywhere near my car... Not even for a wiper blade and certain not when electrics are involved! 🙈 Do yourself a favour and do it yourself... Anyone with common sense and a correct understanding of 12v can easily hard wire one of these in. (something halfords employees sadly seem to lack.. Not all of course but would you risk it?)

Second that, Halfords in my experience were simply awful. The battery on a DS3 is a little hard to get to, but they never managed it. They wanted paying for the fitting even when the old man wound up doing most of the job anyway.
I have the pure Highway 400 in my car and its amazing, much better than having a kenwood radio fitted and getting rid of my manufacturers original radio system. Matter of personal opinion though, I suppose

How is this wired into a factory fitted stereo?
Audi A3 concert if it makes a difference.
Does it just output via aux? If so how is this different to using a Bluetooth to aux receiver and your phone for internet radio which is my current set-up?
Genuine question. I'm thinking I'm missing something.

I third that, and I used to work for them. There was only a small handful of decent fitters. Some installations that I saw were ridiculous
Great little units. I have the 600. After trying several cheap units these are way better. I use mine tuned to a set radio frequency and the sound quality is very good,so good I haven’t even bothered exploring a wired connection.

Yep years ago paid them to install a CD player in my car, they didn’t even earth it !

Is there a version of this with Apple Music integration? I know the 600 supports Spotify.

I have a different dab receiver, but it's always loosing signal even with a decent aerial wired into it. So for me I just tend to use mobile to stream music.
Mind you if mobile signal is patchy then it's just as annoying.

Shame it doesn't recieve via Bluetooth instead of having to connect your phone via an aux cable. That would allow hands free calls as well and other useful Bluetooth things (like enabling apps to auto record where/when you park)

Tbh the Spotify app is not great on the 600. It uses data to play from Spotify direct and bypasses the phones downloads. I just play Spotify via Bluetooth from my phone. You can still skip tracks etc Apple Music could be used this way too I guess

Are you mad, Halfords fitters are not professional, most are teenagers with no appropriate training, its ridiculous. I saw a 18 year old ( approx ) girl trying to figure out how to put a light bulb in an oap's car and you could see she hadn't got a clue, the old lady would have better luck. They charge around £7.99 i think it was, ridiculous it should be 1.99 to fit a bulb or wiper and yet theres a que of people waiting for fitting all the time, baffles me 🤪

Doesn’t use you data allowance, battery. More consistent signal. A phone call doesn’t interrupt.

Im not sure about the signal part, most dab radios keep cutting out every few seconds if your not in a city

There are dearer Pure models that do. And other manufactures also that do. So select a suitable model. I purchased Nextbase DAB350 with BT and aux in for £25 brand new. Plenty of offers around.

Do they, not in my experience with a good aerial and not the windscreen sticky thing supplied with most of these.

They offered me free installation on a set of roof bars after massively messing me about with delivery. Honestly, it was like watching the Chuckle brothers at work, and that required zero electrical or automotive knowledge.

Maybe its just cheap units, so is this model reliable with the included aerial ? If so id be interested for my work van

I remember as a youngster it was called VHF and I am sure it then changed to FM, been a long time ago VHF Very high frequency
Since it outputs the DAB signal by AUX cable could it be used with my home stereo system? I suppose all I need to do is work out how to power it through the mains?
Paid £112 for this a couple years ago now I wouldn't bother with one even at this price to be honest . Just got to the stage where there we wires everywhere in the car for various gadgets.
They work ok but just such a mess and faffing about . Horrible stick on antenna as well .
Modern cars have them built in and these systems will eventually die out as the old cars get scrapped

It is however a bargain at this price if it floats your boat

Don't see why this wouldn't work! You may need an alternative aerial to the one supplied for aesthetic reasons, and you can get 12V cigar adaptors from eBay.
Now how hard is this to fit?
Thank u OP ordered one
Just buy a Bluetooth adapter for £15and listen to dab though your phone don’t have to mess about then

Been there done that and gave it away. These are far superior. Easy to change stations on the go without getting banned from driving or having an accident. Better too

Excuse my ignorance but will this work without a car aerial in fairly poor reception areas?

I had a chip on my car windscreen so took it to Halfords based on their website that says "we repair any crack" and a phone call to the store. When I arrived, they told me "We only put that on the website to get people in store, we can't really repair anything other than really minor screen cracks".

Complete waste of time...never again!
I've got the 600, but it is twice the price. Paid 70 notes from izilla. In my opinion, it's worth it.
It's the best there is, I've tried quite a few. The 600 Unit is wireless. So no wires on view which is a bonus. The aeriel, mic and power wire are easy to hide too.

They are by definition professionals, in that Halfords takes money for them to do the work. They should be held to a professional standard.

That being said, on many modern cars it is ridiculously hard to change a light bulb or a battery, and you often need to watch a Youtube video before you can imagine how you are supposed to reach it. Of course I can do that myself, but I understand if people just want it done.
