Anyone know if there is an AUX out on this?

yes, i'd be interested if it's got an AUX out too - anyone?

Tempting, not sure how much I will use it. Are there any ambient style radio stations on DAB? I want some relaxing chill out music

You get BBC 6 music best raido station ever, listen to it all the time

you would expect the display to be on the front if this were to be for the bedside as suggested. How would you check the time while you're lying in bed, without having to get up and look at the top of this unit?

I have the black version of this from last year. It's useless as a clock, as when it's on standby it decides what it considers a second to last. Which is shorter that earth seconds. So in a day it will accrue 45 mins extra. Leave it a week and who knows what day it will be. Once it's turned on It syncs, but I wouldn't trust it to wake me up at the right time. It does have an aux in but the speaker isn't all that hot.

Agreed. One of the best things to ever come out of the BBC.

And to think they were going to scrap it.

Can it get ITMA and Educating Archie?

circuit

No.

thanks for the reply.

you cant get it in the uk if youre moving about lol.

to be fair my 20 year old sony 1 pot portable cost less than this and almost certainly gives a better sound

Any idea of its dimensions or what batteries it takes? I get the impression it's smaller than I think it looks in the picture.

should be on radio 4Extra along with the Goons and around the horn etc

I don't know about picking up internet radio or educating Archie on this!, but it would be nice to be able to pick up any DAB radio stations on ANY make or model of DAB radio!...I'm sick to death that after 10 years of DAB supposidly being available to all, I still cannot pick up a decent signal on ANY DAB set, no matter what make or quality (I have a Pure Sensia Internet/DAB radio that costs £200+ but even that can't pick up a good signal around here where I live!).

sorry, I was flippantly going backwards in technology from the poster wondering if it received internet radio. Impressed you knew what I was on about.

Ventriloquism, on the radio, those were the days

(I'm 45 so they weren't my days though)

Try borrowing a DAB made in the last 4 years, a lot more sensitive
But the Beeb has made a right royal botch of this technology, true.

And our crappy DAB is worse than the European standard DAB+.
Read all about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Audio_Broadcasting

I'm sticking with FM and internet radio

Yeah the BBC are incompetent.
Its amazing that Freeview managed to take off with them involved.

Yes it does on the back, picked one up this morning.

Works great, nice size too (18cm wide), fairly loud, takes 4 AA's, just what I needed for my desk at work.

Cheers OP!

Thanks For Updating Our Readers With This

Is the sound OK, does it sound tinny or is there some bass there
thanks

Battery or mains operated

Forgive my skepticism but does it actually come with a mains charger? The specs don't actually confirm either way.

Personally I think it sounds ok for what it is, I guess you'd say it's on the tinny side of bass.

Comes with a 5ft mains lead.

I am having problems at the mo tho with the presets on the DAB stations, in that they don't seem to store properly (FM seems ok).

Not sure if the radio is faulty or it's to do with the signal/service.

Still, got 3 years to figure it out.

Wasted journey for me

None in Aldi, Smithdown rd, Liverpool. Staff had no Idea what I was on about. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-rolleyes007.gif

Cheers Steve got the Pure One Classic from tesco priced at £60 scanned at £17.49 BARGAIN !!!

Just picked one up from Aldi, Walton on Thames ( black ones only a couple left.....plenty of white ! ).

Ideal for Father's Day - daughter going to give as a pressie ( OH was saying he could do with a battery powered radio when working over the allotment ).

Thanks for heads up

I managed to get a white one to replace my ancient alba alarm clock. its much smaller than I expected, messed about and got it set to go off in the morning but hey no sleep button! Ok I got over it and then discovered no snooze button! Well I wanted to improve on my old alba but no this dab radio is crap. I turned up the volume to max and it still wasnt as loud as my old alba on medium. I need it loud by the way or I'll just sleep through it. So all that coupled with not being able to see what time it is if I wake up in the night this Dab radio to me is a step backwards to the options I have on my old alba. The only positive I can say about it is that its small and portable if that is what youre looking for. For a regular clock radio that I plan on using for the next 15 years or more then its garbage. Hence its back in its box and going back to the shop. (_;)

Thank You You're Welcome

Biggest pile of pooh I've ever bought, thought it was a great bargain then as per previous comment accrues time and shows 2009 as the year, took it back within a week after the display packed up, this new one is still doing the same so back to Aldi for a refund...
