Can it not be the standard price and a deal?

Not really, defies the purpose of this website surely?
It's a hot deal to me, as I'm on the market for a new car and this is certainly a bargain.
RRP, more of a heads up/misc post surely.
Not suitable for someone who cares about their money either. Seriously, buy a secondhand car from a decent manufacturer for the same price. It'll be a better/safer car and it will hold its value better. Cheap doesn't mean it's a bargain it just means it's cheap...
Cheap doesn't mean bad quality. Sandero is a decent car for a decent price. And Dacia (actually Renault) it IS a decent manufacturer.

I quote a review of the Duster from Ireland

Some prospective buyers will doubtless be miffed by the lack of standard … Some prospective buyers will doubtless be miffed by the lack of standard toys, even at this price, and Dacia will be criticised for leaving in visible toys, such as Bluetooth, while scrimping on invisible safety items..

So meanredspider, do you prefer Bluetooth instead of safety features?
Top spec model is exactly the same price as base model Fiesta and has upgraded safety features from previous Sandero model.
The title of this site is HotUKDeals and not HotUKDiscounts and this is a great deal because the discount is built in for all to enjoy not just those that can barter in the show rooms better.
Would you prefer this to a Perodua were you can knock perhaps £1000 of the £7999 price or this offer for £5995, I know where my money would be spent and I could get some options for the savings.
Sick of negative people on this site, if it's not for you then move on. Or go see a counsellor.
I like it - now all I need is for them to do a 2000 scrappage trade-in like Renault still do on some of their cars....
convenient price for outstanding quality and impressed by the new facelift...:) Dacia from Transylvania :))

I think he means the exact opposite actually, they have left something as pointless as bluetooth in whilst scrimping on safety features? That's how I interpreted it anyway-I may be wrong.
I was put off by the safety side, I must admit. But I know people who have been waiting for this to come out, so I guess safety aside it must be a good deal!

this is a fabulous deal, i dont think the base model will be to popular and will struggle the same way the base kia rio 1 did by not having central locking which is a real pain on a 5 door.

the reviews coming out of germnay and france are very good, and the main reason why unreliable VW are now set to launch their own budget brand to compete.

but for a brand new, proven technology, 5 door 1.2 with all the kit you really will ever need at £6695, that is a bargain.

and if the dacia duster pre-order numbers are anything to go buy, this will also be a huge hit.
3 yr warranty which can be upgraded to 5 if required.

It'll be like white goods for the masses.

If you don't like cars particularly but need something to get you around with minimum fuss and has proven mechanicals for as little as possible (new), then this is for you.

Heat
and for the record, this car is not unsafe at all.
Lots if not all of the safety features you get on higher speced european alternative cars make little difference in a big crash in the real world AND each of those complicated and unreliable safety gizmos will be required to work for every MOT from now on, so your fiesta with the ESC light on will now fail its MOT and prove to be a very expensive repair on a small car which doesnt really need ESC or the other load of safety gizmos which make little or no difference in a real crash.

Keep it simple and easy to maintain, thats why the basic sandero and duster are fabulous long term ownership prospects.

about safety-wise I must say I have seen an accident in Germany on the Autobahn...it was safety as much as polo as both drivers were alive after...and both cars went to scrappage program I reckon...
3 year old base golf would be a much better buy, safety, reliability and resale wise.

From what I've read ESC/ESP/VSC etc is a relevant safety feature for all cars. Can you explain why you don't think it's relevant to a small car? I thought it was relevant in terms of crash avoidance rather than any limitation of injury in a crash and therefore still a relevant safety feature.

great deal, good looking car,= hot
Has anyone seen how much they charge for metallic paint! :-o. Just pick the base model and add on met paint +£1000. How? Why? Who?

My understanding was that all the Dacia's were built on slightly older Renault tech - not `1980's carp - so surely most of the important safety features are there right? Airbags, side impact protection, and abs - ESC is vastly overated in a little 1.2 for everyone except nutters who want to try out organ donation. I have ESC in my 1series and excluding driving in the snow can count on no fingers the amount of times it's cut in......

I agree. When the Microsoft Surface was listed as a deal a few days ago the OP was savaged because it was the RRP.

Cheap does not mean it is a deal (and that remark was not meant as slur against this car)
Why hasn't anyone compared this to an Apple product yet?

Go to a spray shop and ask them for a quote to do any car in metallic paint, a flat colour would cost you about a grand...so 1000 for metallic isn't that bad.
I think this car has ESC anyway
I though Europe hade made this a legal requirement on all cars now except for specialist manuafacturers
Even on the website it states:

ESC/ASR (Electronic Stability Control & Traction Control )

Power assisted steering
Emergency Brake Assist (EBA)
Anti-lock braking system(ABS)
Front side airbags
ESC/ASR (Electronic Stability Control & Traction Control
Emergency spare wheel
+£50.00

Tyre inflation kit
Passenger airbag with de-activation function
Driver's airbag
ISOFIX points for child seats in both outer rear seats
Gear shift indicator
Power assisted steering
Looks like a corsa sized car to me. I remember 8 years ago I picked up a almost new conditioned 1.5yrs old corsa 1.2 with 10k miles for only £4k(new £9K). Now the car is almost 10yrs old with 75k miles and never broke down and still worth around £1200!!! I can imagine this car will worth nothing after 5 yrs! Sometimes we should think about the reliability and resale value of a car. Cheap is cheap guys. So this deal is not good in my opinion.

Dacia seem to get a very good review on honest john for quality

honestjohn.co.uk/car…13/

you were lucky with your corsa. spent a bit of time in france this summer and these things were everywhere.

Just specced out one you can turn that 5995 into 11k without really tryng. thats what? 90% increase from base to to a diesel with met paint and alloys. Wonder what the % diff is for say a bog standard fiesta to top of the line one is?

I doubt they'll sell many top of the line ones...... ppl looking at this should remember ppl like drive the deal had panda diesels in brand new (pre reg) under 6k at one point a couple years back.
Pains me to say it but id rather have a Skoda.
If house prices had mirrored car prices over the last 30 years a new build starter home would be coming in around £15k.

Spot on - the reviewer is basically saying that Dacia skimp in the stuff you can't see (though he does say that even a radio is an optional extra on the Duster in the UK).

I think the metallic paint is another point - extras cost the earth. Putting metallic paint on the car doesn't cost £1000 more than flat paint. How much of that "investment" do you think you'll get back at resale time? And, proportionally, to the cost of the basic car, it's astronomic.

Don't buy the Dacia - buy one of Renault's current car's that someone else has paid the initial depreciation on - you'll probably get metallic paint for free...
Dacia is selling very well in Europe and they growing all the time... Sales of cars in Europe dropping - even 25% in some countries... Everybody will try now to make 'cheap' car VW, Seat, Peugeot - all have cheap models coming out...
