I'd stay away.
Folding bikes have their uses, but a folding mountain bike is inevitably deeply compromised.
A cheap mountain bike is also severely compromised.
Steel is not the material of choice for modern mountain bikes (unless you've got a lot of money). This one weighs almost 16kg - that's a pretty hefty bike (the Dahon in the OP weighs 12.6 which seems more reasonable).
A cheap, steel, folding mountain bike involves so many compromises that it's unlikely to be much use for anything.
Decide whether you want a folder or a mountain bike or a folder and don't compromise.
There have been several deals for sub£300 mountain bikes recently, all of them were a much better bet than this.

Thats a pretty good price for this model.
The site says the RRP is £619 - as you've got it, it looks like a 4p drop
Looks good, wish I needed one....

WOW, awesome deal for an amazing quality light bike - I was almost gonna buy this yesterday in Cycle Republic for £619

I was sleeping on it, great looking bike 'invisible fold' and so many decent parts to it.

By the way, it also comes with front and rear lights + batteries

Buying it now, thanks!

22kg shipping weight and probably about a 20kg bike, like to see you haul that monster up a hill, in and out of your boot, on and off a train/up and down stairs LOL
And just a follow up to my post above, when going to buy a bike I always bring a magnet, the only thing it stuck to on this bike was the front forks and chainwheel

Every other part is aluminium including the wheels and spokes.

Has exactly the same frame as my Dahon Vitesse. They ride real nice, better than any other 20" folder i've ridden.

I was also looking at that model but it seems they are slightly different frames where it folds, it looks like for this model they have used the newer more expensive Dahon Launch D8 frame, it's exactly the same just a different colour

The fold catch on your Mariner looks the same as my Vitesse, i've not tried the models with this different folding catch underneath the frame.

Yeah it's definitely different but same as the Launch D8, there's no big folding 'lip' on the frame that you can see on the Carrera bikes next to the Mariner.

Looks like a cleaner line to the frame.

Is the fold still the same, with the handlebar post inside the fold ?

I'm not sure as I didn't get to see it folded, I'll soon find out next week when it gets delivered.

I just picked it up and it seemed very light.

Here is a video of the Launch D8 folding so I guess it will be the same

Well that vid shows that it does, so i guess yours will be the same. Much better to have this post inside the fold.
I put small bar ends on mine for a bit more reach, and it doesn't affect the fold at all.

Agreed dahon, tern and brompton if you need really small and can blow over a £1,000 on a folder. I wouldn't risk a cheap folder as they will be normally heavy and who wants a bike that could split apart!

The promo stuff lists new jaw technology

The all-new Jaws hinge, the latest evolution in DAHON’s unique LockJaw technology will also be available through the exclusive program. The Jaws hinge employs seamless and sturdy teeth to lock hydroformed shapes into place for a totally flush appearance that maintains strength and rigidity. The tough Jaw’s teeth and tidy mechanism make for rugged performance in a lighter, smooth design.

Can you say what gear lever it has?

The website lists the not so good twist-shift but the bike I saw and the Launch D8 has the superior push lever for changing the 8 gears.

They're both folding bikes, but there the similarity ends. The Fido is electric, weighs 19kg and has 16" wheels.

Dahon site lists the mariner under 13kg, their folding bikes have always been around this weight unless you go top end.
Having said that because someone mentioned thumbshifters, those come in under 12kg.

Reason people have several bikes is that it's very hard to compromise and still get something decent.

Folding bike and Mountain bikes cater to very different and polar opposite needs.

Heck even hybrid and mountain are so different.

So it's either a hybrid, folding, road or mountain bike.
And mountain bikes have several categories to start with even road bikes.
The wife had a D8 and if you tried cycling up any small hill you would feel dead before you got to the top. The low gears just aren't anywhere near low enough so try one out before you buy.
why can't they fold the handle bars and pedals?

They do
I like folding bikes and actually commute on one daily even tho I don't actually fold it and have a fully functional gravel bike in the garage. Personally I prefer the carerra transit as it had hub gears 3 is enough for me.

I definitely wouldn't trust Tern! They've had multiple recalls covering a whole myriad of their bikes. They just don't seem to be able to perfect the engineering that's required to make the fold safe (meaning the frames end up shearing in half).

Dahon don't seem to suffer such issues - despite being of a similar design. Brompton are bomproof.
