Good find - I literally yesterday purchased the bigger version on Amazon but double the price.
I used to have a Vax one but have passed it onto a friend as his dad has a failing lung and given the Covid virus... But recently have found as we are going towards spring/summer, windows are open more, dust/pollen is coming in etc and feeling the difference over having a purifier and not having one.
Where do we get the filters for these and how often do they need change

nightmare to get filters. homemedics directly is the only place i could find for the carbon filters and they were out of stock for months. It tells you when to change it but i think it's every year.
Do these things actually work?
Just had a look at this... Basically the carbon pre-filter needs replacing at least every 3 months (people online on Homemedics website are saying they are having to replace theirs once a month lol!) those cost £7 each without shipping. In addition to those, the actual filter for this device needs replacing at least every 18 months and those cost £20 each... In reality if the carbon pre-filter lasts 1/3 the time it's meant to on paper, I reckon this filter will probably last 6 months at the most, especially if you leave this running every day, which you will end up doing otherwise there's no point buying it. Basically the running costs of this device are high and you have to buy the filters from Homedics...

Also claiming it 'kills viruses' in their marketing sounds like they are getting on the bandwagon to make sales... This is gonna be of no use to anyone in their homes worried about coronavirus...

UPDATE: Just had a look at some of the reviews and the £20 18 month filter only lasted them 3 months - not even 6 months lol...

Any third party more affordable filters?
Appears to be big problems getting replacement filters for their products. People have been complaining online that they can't even buy replacement filters for their machines anywhere, not even from Homemedics and that this will only be worse in a few years time. I had a look at some of the other air purifiers they are currently selling and sure enough I can't even find or buy all the replacement filters needed for them (...)

it does work, that there is no doubt, but it's to what level do you want it to work. i found dust reduction and no lingering odours in the room i used. it's a nightmare in winter as it leaves the room so cold.

Eh??? What do you mean it leaves the room so cold? This won't cool the room at all... If anything this will actually add heat into ur room... (basic physics)

Not sure your "basic physics" is up to scratch buddy. Do you know how this machine operates?.

?? lol dude. This is basically just a fan and a filter. You do understand fans don't cool rooms down right? They just move air around. Also all electrical components will produce some heat as a by product - basic physics... The motor will be producing a tiny bit of heat. In the same way a vacuum cleaner blows hotter air out through the filter than it takes in... So YES, this is adding a small amount of heat into the room. A room with one of these running will be very slightly warmer than a room without one of these running. It will certainly NEVER be cooler.

Ok. Whatever you. After all it’s you with the product not me right? You know how this works far better than I do 🏽.

This is what you get for passing on experience of the product :/ .

My Vax one does make the room cold, it's like having a cooler fan on dealing cold blast of air at the top on the unit

No. Just no.
Mine just arrived - works fine and not a single bit of damage on the box
Came with the carbon filter (new) in the box and all seals were intact and original from what I could see.

Just a day after the bigger version arrived, this will work just fine especially as both the bigger one and this seem quieter than the Vax one I used to have
