Please read the title, this is for the Hardback version. The version for £4.23 is the PAPERBACK version or £8.30 for the Hardback. It also takes a year to come out to Paperback.

This is stupid 17C, with 19 votes so far, stupidity. Cheapest price by £3.73, and many people collect Hardback books. Why bother sometimes?

This reminds me to read this. Got it when it first came out.

"why bother?" Because you helped 19 people. What else do you want?

As someone else said, its a 2 year old book. I know some people like collecting hardbacks, but most people prefer to just get the book and read it. Therefore, most folk are probably seeing an old book for £4.50 and not really seeing the value.

Everyone posts deals that go cold despite them finding it a good enough deal to post. No need to start stamping feet and demanding answers.

Edit - As for the book itself, I got it at release and stopped reading around halfway through, which I think is a first for me. Loved Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons, and liked his stuff before the Robert Langdon books as well ( Deception Point and Digital Fortress) but with Lost Symbol and moreso this book, I found his storytelling pace got very tedious. It felt like the stories were both only half fleshed out, and he was adding alot of filler so the books were the same page count as a standard novel.

Not that there's anything wrong with slower storytelling, but Dan Brown's style went very downhill in my eyes after Da Vinci code.

Great price and great read, can't wait for the movie, heat!

Daft book...if Robert Langdon did not get involved the outcome would still be the same and less people would have died.....bit of a turkey in my opinion.

Yes Teddy I know exactly why people vote, but it's the juvenility and idiocy of users pointlessly voting negatively against certain products. Understandably everyone is entitled to vote, but in the seven years being a member there's been numerous discussion on the approach and ways to change the process. If the item or product is too expensive, poor condition, inferior quality or suffers other issues it's understandable the criticism.

Zero recognition, doesn't matter except it's frustrating the negativity in general or lack of response. If the person want to vote negatively then explain the reasoning to your decision or feedback. It is what makes a forum, the interaction and discussion (see below - Good response).

Unless a book is mass marketed with huge print runs, over printed or remaindered, temporary discounted novels (brand new condition) normally rise in price to it's original recommended price after a year or two in print. Of course on-line discounters such as Amazon will continue to discount books, but recently they've started to reduce the margins or stop overall on some lines. Although worryingly the resale value of used or rare books has declined drastically, mainly due to the introduction of new technology (kindles and tablets), and over production.
