Ok so I'm having a bit of a dispute with my neighbour who thinks it's acceptable to have 2 bonfires a week in his 3m x 4m garden

Before I go to the council I want to make sure that I'm protected should there be any repercussions.

This seems to be a ridiculously good price, I found a review which seems to suggest that they are ok, it's worth a punt though as I've seen how things can escalate on 'Nightmare Neighbour Next Door' and he does seem the type...

no hdd ?

Definitely a case of get what you pay for. Says "HD" but is actually old analogue PAL SD cameras, prone to noise banding and lacking in clarity. If you're going to the trouble of installing wires around the place, might as well get IP cameras with Power over Ethernet and do it properly. Do you really need 8 cameras?

Question:
Does it come with a hard drive, and if so what size?

Reply:
Hello Nancy,
It will not come with a hard drive .

It's best to have 1080p otherwise there is no head room to zoom into image if you need to. Image will be blocky. Plus a lot of the cheaper ones have bad infrared so night vision becomes very grainy. But if your on a tight budget I guess something is better then nothing.

Ref the hard drive, this price seems to be about £50 cheaper than any other price for this system so I guess that's where the saving is. I've got a box of old computer bits so am bound to have a spare that will work but it is a valid point.

As for the quality of the images, I guess my question to anyone who knows about these things (I certainly don't) is would this be 'good enough' or should I be looking elsewhere?

Probably better to just use your phone

A bit of a broad question really, it depends what you want it to be good enough for? In a court of law you need it to be as clear as possible and any doubt of identification will count against the admission of evidence. If however you just want to be able to prove time and date of fires taking place in your vicinity, you could achieve that with one HD camera with a single source DVM, this will fit the bill, but I like others would question your need for 8 cameras.

Looks like your dispute is going to have some fuel added to the mix. :-)

Take some photo evidence and send it to the council who are legally obliged to enforce air pollution / nuisance behaviour orders

Yep I'm just a little worried about what might occur once that happens. One of my windscreen wipers magically snapped itself off a couple of years ago and other stuff like that has happened since.

I'm sure I'm worrying over nothing but can't beat a little bit of peace of mind.

Ah, no these are not for the purposes of recording when a fire takes place, more for peace of mind once I report him to the council

Luke, is it really you mate? Can you please just go out in the garden and give me a wave across the fence, just so that I know it's the same Luke?

How about I just stop doing the bonfires?? It can save you the money as well as the bother.

But can you please keep the music down in return?

I'm sure we can live happily ever after.

Perfect fella. In return I'll invite you round for one of the 4 barbecues a year I have that you've tried to use as a justification for burning stuff that you could just as easily put in your recycling bin

BYOB mind

Seriously though I have gone round and tried to resolve amicably - grassing a neighbour up to the council isn't something I really want to do but we seem to be entrenched into a "I think I'm right and he thinks he's right" situation.

Clearly I am right though

This one looks good. It's a hybrid system (analog and digital), has 1TB hard disk, takes 8 cameras and comes with 4 cameras included in the box. All for £168.

I don't have it but I've been reading reviews about it and have it in my Amazon wishlist for when I'm ready to buy a CCTV system.

Hope that helps.

These 960 cameras aren't worth toffee. As others have said. Poor quality.

Just bought this laptop from GEARBEST and ended up paying an additional $21.52 for the 3-7 days delivery. Gearbest claim to deliver in this time for free but this is a lie.
