ok not the cheapest box set around but this is a great show that is now out on DVD

Dark Skies is one of the most imaginative TV series of the 1990s - an unusual and often scary blend of fact, informed speculation and high drama.
It is an alternative, dark look at history as seen through the prism of an insidious and hostile alien invasion. On the one side: the secret and powerful covert government Majestic-12, which has discovered that alien life had indeed visited earth, and is determined to keep the invasion a secret.
On the other side is Dark Skies, the resistance movement that is mankind's only hope, and it's heroes John Leongard and Kimberly Sayers, two young people on the run from Majestic-12.

Surprised this made it on DVD as apparantly their were issues years ago when he tried to release it, cannot remember the exact reason if it was something to do with the studio rights

Very tempted

didnt this crash and burn after the first season?

Yes, only lasted one season.

It was delayed because of the usual "music rights clearance" because of the costs involved to secure all the music and songs used in the series.

tfish

Region 2 distribution rights have now been acquired by Mediumrare, with … Region 2 distribution rights have now been acquired by Mediumrare, with the full series being released on DVD in the United Kingdom on 18 October 2010.

As it's only just been released after 14 years, I think I'll sit back and wait for the price to drop.
Good serise though.
I might just dust off my Taken DVDs for an airing while I wait.

Enjoyed this show

Music rights was the reason because of the time period it is set in the music rights clearance budget was extortionate for all the royalties inc The Beatles etc...

The US version has a fair bit in extras compared to the bare bones UK version for those who might like that kind of thing. (released on the 18th Jan)

Great series and I seem to remember Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) plays a Russian agent in some of the episodes and Eric Close who went on to appear in Now and Again another good series......

Good series. (it's £26.99 on Amazon BTW) voted hot

Cheers wasn't quite sure of the reason with it being so long
I might hold out for the USA release for the extra content as in no rush as got quite a bit of stuff to watch at the minute

The US version works out at around £19 at the moment (that includes p&p) which is a good bit cheaper for more in the set but over the £18 import tax threshold, but its bound to drop pretty quickly in price I would think.
