Not a bad price but considering scholar of the first sin is out in 3 months including all DLC and DX11 might be worth waiting for that as its around £22 preorder

Is this really as hard as people make out? I'm interested in buying it but if I'm going to get destroyed for the first 5 hours of gameplay I'm not sure if I can be bothered with that lol. [/casualscrub]

Not necessarily hard, just punishing. You have to think about each boss and, usually, just learn their patterns.

Treat every boss battle as if it's a puzzle.

Nice deal, great game. Probably not worth it for the reason Rens11 mentions though. Scholar of the first sin (think game of the year edition (all dlc) with graphical upgrades and enhanced online) will be out soonish and it's cheap to preorder. No point buying the same content twice and YOU WILL WANT TO because this is a grade A game and you'll be left wanting more.

I thought to grad one until someone mentioned they are coming out with a remastered version around April. Look up Scholar of the First Sin.

Dark Souls 2 is amazing for £9.49

Have sunk a few hundred hours in to this game, great game for this price. It isn't so hard on the PC once you 'fix' the horrendous mouse click performance. Personally, DS2 was a really painful and infuriating experience until I discovered AHK and re-binding some of the controls.

I was under the impression there would be a purchasable patch for existing owners to upgrade, rather than having to buy the game again?

Its not a game you should buy if you look forward to getting back from work and relaxing.

It would been seen as very hard to a casual gamer that plays all games on Novice difficulty, were you can run around and tank about 20 hits before you die.

P.S After 12 Hours you will still be getting destroyed if you dont learn the swing timers

Good deal if you don't care about grabbing the new version, which will have big graphical improvements and all the DLC packaged. A huge warning though, Dark souls 2 and the new version CANNOT interact at all online, considering the hardcore player base will definitely move on to the new game, if you're wanting to do more than do a single playthrough and experience the online community, I'd wait.

The worst Souls out of the lot. Too easy and no creativity compared to the previous two. Likely because the main director left this game early to work fully on Bloodborne

Yeah it's definitely the worst as far as creativity is concerned... But the DLC is easily the best content the game has to offer! Well worth waiting for the remaster IMO.

Ignore this fool...

The game was the best game of 2014 by miles!!

The game plays great on the PC, super fun and a good size game to sink your teeth into.

DS1 combat is clunky and messy but has some nice bosses and areas.

DS2 combat is totally fluid, the areas are nice but DS1 does have some better areas.

Overall DS2 is a much better game, DS1 feels like a mess compare to DS2.

They're both nothing compared to Demon's Souls

Lol did my opinion hurt you that much? Lots of others think the same as me too, I played all 3 and yes Dark Souls 2 was the worst of the lot. Deal with it. Dark Souls 1 was a much better game that 2.

Not really.

DS2 is a better game all round and the sales speak for themselves!

DS1 maybe of been good on the console on release but its nowhere near as good as DS2, i have both too.

The pvp is broken in DS1, the mechanics are clumpy and the item system is a mess. Combat is always the same just use the strong attack stun repeat...

DS2 much more varied combat, i do like the areas in DS1 better as its more dark and underworld but the combat is just a mess! Revamp DS1 with DS2 combat system and rerelease, id buy it, but saying its better than DS2 just shows youre stuck in the past...

I'd wait for the DX11 release to be entirely honest.

Agreed.

Although this is a great price there is no point in buying it! These versions will all be £5 soon as the DX11 version has better graphics, multiplayer is bigger, has all DLC included (buying the DLC to go with the DX9 version costs like £20 while the DX11 version is only £22 on Amazon...) and has revamped areas, such as moved monsters!

Lol just because it doesn't run well on your platform you say DS2 is better than this? All that issues you got aside, story, gameplay, bosses, mechanics, areas etc much better in DS1. end of

Somehow I don't think either of you are going to win this one You just have different tastes.

I personally thought 2 wasn't anywhere near as good as 1, because it was missing a lot of the stuff that made the first one so great:
- The permadeath NPC's (and their individual histories and stories, seeing them lose their minds as the game goes on)
- The optional areas. Some areas were completely tucked away, like Ash Lake, or the painted world. Also Anor Londo at night.
- The detailed lore. 2 had some great lore, but every single aspect of Lordran was carefully thought out and detailed in the lore descriptions. Check out Oolacile, or the origins of the poisoned swamp in Blighttown.
- The non-linear nature of the game meant that you could choose your route through Lordran while avoiding certain areas completely. It made subsequent playthroughs exciting and different... plus certain routes would reward you with entirely new characters and gameplay mechanics (Kaathe). There's also an element of strategy in planning your route from point A to point B before the warping system is introduced.

Compared to 2 where nothing is optional, nothing is missable, and nothing you do has any consequence... it was a pretty big let down for me. But it's not all bad. You can't really have a bad game in the series, as long as the core combat is there. Plus the multiplayer was a huge improvement, and so were the menus etc. I sank a couple of hours into each, so that's saying something

Oh, and I would wait for the enhanced version of 2 for sure... you're gonna want that DLC, it's pretty much the best content in the game.
