"Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring. Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes against unimaginable horrors, stress, famine, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Can you keep your heroes together when all hope is lost? "

It won RPG of the year 2016 on the PC Gamer (US) site: pcgamer.com/bes…on/ ( pcgamer.com/gam…16/ )
"Deep dungeons, eldritch horrors, and shaky heroes make Darkest Dungeon special."
"A wonderfully executed, brilliantly stressful reinvention of party-based dungeon-crawling, Darkest Dungeon is great fun, even when its cruel."

A slightly cheaper alternative for anyone that owns a PS4 or a Vita, it's currently on sale for £8.99 (£7.19 with PS+) for the next two days.

Love it i have like 100h in it on Steam.

Word of warning that I don't really like it on Vita, the text is really small. Shame as I held off getting the PC version for ages to have it on a handheld.

Fantastic game. Not easy, and you really need to plan what to do etc. Also you can't save game, so if your hero dies it's dead for good

I liked this quote from PC Gamer:
"..Darkest Dungeon pushes you to treat your party members not as handmade, precious heroes that you nurse from recruits to legends, but as disposable napkins that you use to sop up the unearthly horror left behind by your ancestor. Every character is a tool that will break (usually mentally), become diseased, or gain some costly predilection. Get too attached to a Highwayman or a Hellion, and you'll waste loads of gold curing them of every malady. Getting over that emotional hump, that instinct to love and develop your soldiers, is the most interesting aspect of the game."
