These guys won't stop at anything to gather data will they! Seems like it could be useful though.

If only I didn't have to read a mess of a description I might find it useful.

This app is actually meant to be for countries where there is very limited or expensive access to data. They found in those areas when doing research for this app that there was a big culture of using airplane mode all day and turning it on sparingly to let the notifications flood in.

It wasnt really meant to be used in places where having access to data is cheap as its actually detrimental to the android (and mobile in genral) experience.

Mea culpa. Hope this helps somewhat: theverge.com/201…gle

Stalking step 47. What is 48 going to be like?

Thanks. As someone without "all you can eat" data, this will be handy.

Pretty much the whole point in google, they gather data in return for something useful.

Wow. Just wow.

Using it as I only have like 150mb left till the 8th. It tells you how much data an app is using so you can keep track. Not sure how much data usage it's actually blocking. But.. Worth a go

Some people like to be spoon fed everything.

Doesn't Android have a similar option already built in

Where did I say it was different? Never mentioned any of those.

What can't be denied though is that Google is the king of data farming.

George knew it back then. Plebs can't see it in front of their eyes now. Sad

I'm on the bus. If the greatest industrial secret of the era gets out it'll cause stock market eruptions and then some.

4.86 MB is good (I love android for this) but it would be ideal if it did some compression, right?

If you have location services enabled goto maps.google.com/loc…ory when logged into your google account.

Given they are already getting all sorts of telemetry from android users already I'm not sure it's that much of a problem with the data from the app.

Also I'm pretty sure the location telemetry from android phones is one of the data sources for the traffic info on google maps.

this might not been needed in the UK and Europe, but if you're roaming abroad and only get a small data package it might be invaluable.

Google own Waze, so they get a decent amount of traffic flow data. They might also buy a feed of cellular basestation hand-over activity from the carriers, this is also known to be a good indicator of traffic flow.

Opera has already this app. I think is called opera max. Used to use it but used do much mAh so switched to 12 gb/mth data
