No it works with wii games

gamersquad.com/cat…e!/

also states this on description page

This is for Wii Games, Wii games!

It's available now from Code Junkies for only £9.99, and will quite possibly be rendered useless by a future firmware update anyway.

uk.codejunkies.com/Pro…spx

That may be, but I think they said they will replace discs should that happen.

Apparently the GC version which you could use on the Wii to play any region's GC game was disabled with a recent firmware update.
I suspect any Wii version would rapidly suffer the same fate.

also, i had a gameseek email in my inbox and this item was there as 9.99 so i would suggest the OP rechecks that price.

EDIT - apologies - you posted the DELIVERED price.... ignore pls.

Won't you just be able to download this off a torrent site?

Would anyone who speaks English care to point out what this thing actually does for owners of vanilla-flavoured wii consoles straight out of a legitimate uk box? From the descriptions above its hard to tell if its a physical item or a piece of software, let alone what it is for!

whos they?

if its codejunkies, then i would like to see a statement of sorts please

one thing you may have to be carefull of is as follows
some games have an update on which updates the wii
and the updates can brick the console if it from the wrong region
I.E.
if you update a pal wii with a ntsc game
or vice versa the update is not compatable
i am not 100% sure if this is the case with the freeloader
but is the case with a chipped nintendo wii
so should be ok as long as you never use updates from a different region game
from what your system is
if someone can proove me wrong
please do

i have 3 x NTSC GC games that i cant play thanks to Wii Updates - this wont help me will it?

once you have done the update from a pal disc
then the ntsc one will play as it no longer needs that update
has it as had it from a pal game
(if you know what i mean)
P.S. i am refering to wii games

Surely if you just make sure you keep ur wii up to date by regularly updating, then you shouldnt have a fear of this happening though, right?

nah its not gona happen due to the face nintendo keep trying to stop datel and datel keeps fighting back,.

The RRP for this is £9.99, how is this a deal?

Is the site being re-named "Hot New Products at full price"?

well datel has it on their site, but amazon and other websites dont, so i dont know bout this.

am sure if you use the disc swap technique would work if you want to play import gamecube games. I tried that with the old freeloader and it worked. So i guess its worth a try eh.

Will most likely get this and a US copy of smash bros brawl as it seems we're getting shafted, EU release date wise.

No, proper Wii discs contain a barcode in order to run on a Wii. Unless it's modded, which kind of defeats the point of Freeloader.

Probably because this isn't a hot deal, it's just a new product at its full retail price.

i wonder if it will let you play backups without a modchip

I didnt know this product was coming out - i thought i would let others who didnt know it was coming out know about it too- i suppose i could have posted in miscellaneous but then not as many people would have seen it.

Also gameseek are one of the only reputable retailers selling this so far and offer quidco compared to codejunkies who do not

It is a disc that you place into the wii console. When placed in , it allows you to then insert any non PAL (UK) wii game after removing the freeloader disc. By doing this you should hopefully be able to play japanese/american wii games on your Uk console.

Hope this helps

if this does work i know what am importing, no more heroes!!!!! no way am gona buy the pal version that has pixie dust replacing the blood

i was about to buy if off the codejunkies website for £9.99 plus £5 p+p, so this deal will actually save me some money, so i consider this a hot deal.

no

I would wait until it is out before buying.

Three Q's that need to be answered.

1. Will they provide a free update of version 2 if a nintendo firmware update disables it like the GC freeloader?

2. Will it block NTSC updates? Sure if you know what you are doing you are safe but I can see kiddies bricking their Wii.

3. Will it block the "duplicate channels" bug that is often a side effect of using imported games - even after the update is blocked?

Given Datels history of late (e.g. ripping off pandoras battery and overcharging for it). I doubt it.

Doesn't the latest Wii update warn you of a firmware that is disc-based and give you the option of ignoring it?? (It should show on the Wii menu, or so the release message said)

i emailed codejunkies regarding updated firmware on the wii, this was their reply:

"Dear Customer

Further to your email the product is currently fully compatible with the Wii console regardless of the available firmware versions which are been used. As with any console which has updatable firmware we can not guarantee that no firmware updates will affect the usage of the product but if Nintendo were to release a firmware update which affected the usage of the product we would try to as previously done with our Wii compatible GameCube products to release an updated version of the product to resolve the problem.

sounds to me like it will work for now, if nintendo update firmware to a new version, which disables the freeloader, then they will update their freeloader, as they have done with gamecube version, which as i recall did happen.

so at the moment its a 50/50 situation on it working until UK buyers get a copy and test it out for them selfs.

The UK version of No More Heroes in censored. Worth importing.

youtube.com/wat…KTE comparison there.

Actually the UK version is the same as the Jap verson. They altered the US version adding red blood to appeal to all those psycho kiddies they breed over there.
