Can't grumble for £1, a truly massively over rated album and it's … Can't grumble for £1, a truly massively over rated album and it's understandable why because of the circumstances around its release, has to be one of his weakest albums though. There's no comparison with this album and say Hunky Dory or most of his 70's era albums.

The 70s albums are my favourites too but this still very good and as I find with most of David Bowie's work it grows on you and soon becomes your new favourite.

Well, opinion obviously. This guy says it's overrated, most people wouldn't. I think it's great, not quite up there with his 70s albums, but what is?

It's a masterpiece.

This album is awesome (my opinion before he died) and my opinion of it has increased now knowing that he was dying as he wrote it.

Totally different style and honestly I don't think you can compare. You're not going to get the same album from 70s drug fuelled Bowie and cancer riddled, terminal Bowie.

I really liked blackstar. Give it a few listens and it's a great album.

It can only be opinion, it can't be fact as music is subjective.

Freddie Mercury did a pretty good job. The Show Must Go on is remarkable considering the effort he had to put in to that vocal performance so near the end of his life.

'Tis a pity it's in store

A stonking album. As good as anything before Ziggy Stardust and after Aladdin Sane. 'Tis a pity Bowie waited so long to produce material of this quality again.

Well before Ziggy was Hunky Dory and after Aladdin Sane we had the likes of Diamond Dogs, Station To Station, Low, and Scary Monsters. Is Blackstar really as good as those classics?

There's no logic to music, it's art

Buying a physical copy of an album? This is a good deal... For 1996!

Pun of the day !

It's a great album, was very sad and hard to listen to for a long time, though....I always referred to him as the "Greatest Living Englishman" and can't do that any more

I preferred the jazzier version of Sue (Or In A Season Of Crime) if any of you haven't heard it.

It's one of his best albums, whether he was dying while he made it or not. If you're stuck in some 70s timewarp then you're probably suffering from cultural incomprehension. Try opening your mind (man). Not everything should sound like Ziggy or Low.

Bowie was brilliant what ever he done a master at work was the greatest

Whilst it's not my favourite album of his, the power and emotion behind it is quite something, especially considering the circumstances he wrote it under.

Bargain and a great album!

Awful album, his voice had truly gone by this and the writing is his poorest.
Sold well due to the circumstances

I think it's a very good album. My only critisism would be it's a bit monolithic.

In my opinion? Yes. I've heard it said that Black Star is "hard to listen to" by so-called Bowie fans. Listening to it for the first time I was struck by how listenable it actually is. There are several Bowie albums I can't listen to in full, Scary Monsters being one of them. Some of the tracks are just not up to par. But Black Star is really a masterpiece.

I got one with the vinyl version of the album. I'll never use it so you can have it if you want it.

The number of utter melons who say Blackstar only got good reviews because he died - Blackstar is an album about his death. He wouldn't have made an album like it were he not about to die, the two events are intrinsic. The single is called 'Lazarus', ffs!

some nice funeral songs on there tbf

Thats like expecting Usain bolt to still run 100m in under 10seconds in 40 years time? Bowie was young and hungry when he wrote hunky dory... A LOT has happened to this man since! Compare ANY album in the last 10 years to hunky dory.. I rest my case.

HOT AS HELL!!! :0

Yes, something apart from Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" would make us all dance a bit more during the casket slide.

Wow really! I keep meaning to get the vinyl one, apparently there is something special about the cover.

I pay £10/month for Google Play Music. Fantastic investment.

Agreed. It is an excellent album, that is now a tough listen (for me). RIP David

Went to Ada Tamworth about 1 1/2 hours after the op posted this and there was next to nothing left in the sale - 1 album (not this) and a couple of DVDs including the original Rambo.

Massive heat because David Bowie sadly passed away. Let's be honest. And for some reason, when someone passes away, they become the best thing since sliced bread, when 'fans' who haven't listened to him for years (or indeed ever) suddenly come crawling out of the woodwork as David Bowie superfans. Anyway, I'm off to listen to Amy Winehouse, always loved her.
