Hi @Hanz_kbar As members have stated you can search via postcode on the GOV website to check which places are taking part in the offer. However it's also good to highlight some of these so thanks for taking the tiome to postr.

umarh

I think the mods just pick and choose which deals come up here which are repeated. No real consistency (annoyed)

Here we are: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/get-a-discount-with-the-eat-out-to-help-out-scheme

c.heaney27

Of course we will because the mods allow it. People are too lazy to go and look what restaurants etc are participating using the government website search tool, they must see each individual restaurant listed as a deal on this (annoyed)

My GF is trying to get me signed up to this club (£102 each if we both join). She wants to play tennis so her membership if she joins alone is £117 per month, I used to think £50 per month Crossfit was bad! She's moved to the other end of the country and wants to me to join for a little bit whilst she makes friends playing tennis. These comments are insightful.

Ouzoherb

Too many screaming kids as families get a great price to join , virtually the same as a couple. If relaxation and a chilled space is what you seek I wouldn't bother. Its basically a play zone.

Simon

Thanks for sharing your first deal with us @Frogs3_uk Unfortunately this one didn't hit the mark this time but next one will fly i'm sure :)

Davidbthatsme

Normally around £50pm, my local David Lloyd used to be great then a hot shot manager joined, he rented out half the car park to a local business making parking an issue, he then launched some great offers for new customers making the gym simply too busy, so we cancelled

aeykeay

I can see this DL going bust in the near future just because of not moving on with times.

No1Funnymummy

Lucky you! How'd you get that? If I could be so rude as to ask? Thanks :)

lasuil

I joined on this offer and found out you also get a couple free Personal trainer sessions, I think 3 x half hour, and they'll put you through a system called boditrax which analyses your body stats and they'll help you work out what you should be doing to realise your goal, which for me personally is drastic weight loss.

So happy I have a life membership (since 1994).

At mine yes. But check your locals facilities. Mine has a 16 man bubble/jets jacuzzi, and a steam room and a sauna room

Gabrielle1564

Do you get full access to the spa?

lasuil

I did it last year and didn't get a hard sale. The most was they tried calling me a few times to see if I enjoyed the trial and if I would like to join

ednaworthy

Really want to try my local club, but worried about the hard sell after. Definitely can't justify £100 per month.

lasuil

If you're going to use it at least 7 times/ £5 a go, and depending on Beckenhams facilities, I'd say its worth it just to see what the place is like and enjoy the jacuzzi (if they have one :) )

What are their off-peak times and cost?

Benalex

What happens after the 14 days if you forget to cancel? Is this an auto renew membership for 12 months or it just stops? Can’t see it on the T&Cs

lasuil

They scan in your ID so I don't think it'd worth the embarrassment of getting caught out lol

Neiliboy

Be careful if you join. Some of the tarrifs need a ridiculous (and unjustifiable) THREE months notice to cancel. Pure profiteering. Absolute rip off merchants. Oh - and the Cambridge Branch is being refurbed right now till January so no pool/spa facilities.

d3r3k.001

Does anyone know if the 14 day memberships is still available, I can’t see it when I follow the link

ec9wrr

You can’t sign up online I’m afraid. Also, at least 50% of your visits need to be to your home club. It resets each month. Month one and two where you didn’t get 50% of visits at home club you would just get a warning. Third month they’ll move your membership and charge you the new price.

Does anyone know if they ever do black Friday joining offers? My local one (Worthing) charges £70 pm for off peak, with times that suit me. Just wondering if it might be cheaper in November

baldchris

Actually, clarified with David Lloyd again after finding the t&c's online (here), and deal is worse than I thought. Normally, if you join with a partner, the partner gets a reduced rate (about 25% off). But this offer is based on two people paying full price and only one getting a 50% discount. Worked out as £11 month saving off normal partnership rate at my gym. So definitely a small saving, but nowhere near as much as headline offer would suggest.

baldchris

Just enquired about this offer. One person pays full price whilst the other person pays half price - so effectively only a 25% saving. The link to their t&c's for this offer doesn't work, so not sure if this is an outright mis-sell or not, but I definitely didn't realise that this was a 'buy one, get one half price' offer.

luvsadeal

If your interested in David Lloyd look into vitality life insurance. You get a good discount and it’s a rolling contract. Again it’s only at some of their gyms so not for all.

flipnfil

I’ve been a member for many years, prices are high but the facilities are good, however the customer service from head office is truly abysmal. Questions / complaints are completely ignored and the membership fees seem random between members. Their equality practices are also somewhat questionable.

expired now i take it?

phoni

No, I was a member (although, just a discounted weekend one) previously.

phoni

That's quite funny - guess I'll never find out what has changed! While I like a good discount (usually to buy something I don't really need), I don't spend my money where my custom is not wanted. For example: I wouldn't try to get in a nightclub if somebody in my group has "wrong" shoes, or go to Costco since they wouldn't even let me have a look without getting a damn card. It would have been an easy £14 for DL since I would have probably gone maximum twice but I guess they didn't want to take it.

jamesdew

Here are the Ts & Cs https://www.davidlloyd.co.uk/forms/crm/~/link.aspx?_id=5168215DFD0B421F99BB5CB8C8A420F3&_z=z It does say "Previous trialists are excluded from this offer" so if he has had a trial after he was a member he will be excluded However it does also say "The decision of the manager is final and the manager reserves the right to refuse admission."

You won't be eligible if you have ever had a 14 day trail before. DL is only looking for people who would potentially be buying longer memberships.

flipnfil

Good deal, however being a long standing member I have to agree the management of these clubs is abysmal. I remain a member purely down to location. They are up for sale at the moment and struggling to find a buyer. Please note, if you do decide to join the ‘joining fee’ and monthly fee is negotiable despite what they will say.

mustardsenf

Not voting - however unlike every company i had to deal with, the way DL handled the most difficult time of my life was beyond the pale. I would never give such a company a penny again.

Neiliboy

Don’t bother with the Cambridge branch. Not unless you like shower gel dispensers that don’t work, toilets that don’t flush and of course, leaky ceilings.

Can't go wrong at this price. Gym, pool, tennis, loads of different classes, and even a spa and golf courses at some of the clubs.
Picard123

Unless you use the gym everyday (or simply have alot of money), I would never join a David Lloyd just for the gym. Normal membership is just too pricey for that. In fact, membership prices have gone up and up over the last 10 years. Classic example a corporate trying to drive more and more profit from their network of clubs. The one nearest to me for example is £160 per month including the tennis. Really nice club but given that I don't use all of the facilities, it's alot to pay.

Slash

Only good for playing tennis. Get far gym equipments even at Pure Gym.

Picard123

Yes. That is a bargain. Where I am it costs £8 just to book an outdoor tennis court for an hour in my local park and £10 for a yoga class at the local community centre, whereas practically everything is free at David Lloyd (apart from certain tennis classes at the heavily subscribed clubs eg. Raynes Park in London, Bushey in Herts etc). Each club can be quite different and often reflects the particular locality eg. Finchley very busy.

guybythesea
