Seems like there might be some competition hotting up on channel crossings. Haven't seen prices this cheap for years.

Damn, not for normal people. I want to go to France for 3 days around a weekend but the price shoots up to £90...

Not good if you get sea sick as its a 2 hour trip!

I never understood why it's so much cheaper for a day trip.

It's good to see some competition but I'll stick to the Euro Tunnel for now.

3 day trip is listed as £19 on that page - you have to click the button for the offer you want.

DFDS Seaways are nearly always the cheapest, have done this trip many times on a tobacco run to Adinkerke (personal use only!!). We usually pay around £9 each way for the ferry as we can pick and choose when we go. Mid-week is usually the cheapest time, crossing a little tedious as most of the comfy seats have gone unless you fly up the stairs!!! Service is pretty efficient though and have never encountered any major issues. Once you get off the ferry, Belgium is around 20 minutes away!!

What happens if someone bought 2 day trips week apart and used only one way on given day, i.e. Go to France and don't use return and use only return ticket on other day? Would that work?

nope they would charge your card the price of a full fare ie 2 x one way tickets minus the price of the 2 x day trips you booked its in the t&cs

Thought so. Almost £150 for week than. Better to use eurotunnel and pay with tesco vouchers.

I was looking for 3 day trip to visit my friends in Brussels. Was on their website as well, but when you do normal search it comes close to £100. I cancelled my plans, but this will bring them back to life. Thnx a million. This is it. Hello continent. Heat added

Must be mentally ill if you want to go to france ha!!

Lets hope the French fishermen don't block the harbour.

Hey Guys, a quick question to the experienced ones... Is it possible tu buy a ticket 'at the gates' and what'd be the price? Thinking about crossing around the Xmas time. As I am going to drive back ~1kmiles I am slightly worried that I may be late, and I am not really that keen to buy 'flexible' ticket for 199 (eurotunnel)...
thanks in advance!

try mega bus if don't mind 8 hrs travel and 16 hrs in total. found 3 people return for £24.50 incl £0.50 admin fee in early Dec. you try different day until you get the best deal.

I've been late a few times on the day trip offers and my experience is they dont bat an eyelid that was with P&O

With an ordinary eurotunnel (not flexi) ticket you have a 2 hour flexibility, either side of your booked crossing time.
This means that if you are early, they will try to put you on an earlier crossing. If you are more than 2 hours late, they will ask you to pay a supplement, rather than buy a new ticket.I expect that the supplement price varies with the day and time.
I drive to spain a couple of times a year and before my last visit had always bought a flexi ticket because I was worried about being late. This time I bought the normal ticket and specifically asked the girls at the tunnel to explain the set up.It was very reassuring, and much cheaper!

DFDS day trip sounds like a good plan to me this half term! Can anyone recommend anything good to do with the kids in and around Calais?

Yes throw them overboard.

sounds like a good plan.

does anyone know if its possible to change the number of people going? as i booked for 3 of us, but now an extra person wants to come with, couldnt see anything in the FAQ's and assumed as its up to 9 people that it would probably be ok just to turn up with them

they did it over the phone for free!!

We just got back from this yesterday. Not bad. We actually bought some whisky on board as it had a deal - Glenlivet 18 years single malt 1L bottle, 2 for £50.

In the shops at dover port there is a leaflet stand, they had a load of vouchers for a free bottle of wine per person at Calais wine superstore. is worth stopping off there as its on the way back to the boat
